bbbean
Trying out a 200 gr bullet for my .40 limited gun, and decided to pull .5gr off my 180 load for a starting point. I was expecting to have to spend 2 or 3 days back and forth between the reloading bench and teh chrono, but sure enough the first load gave me a PF of 171, SD of 2.8, and a range of 60 fps between high and low (20 rounds, mixed brass). Obviously, I'll run few hundred of these through the gun before I use this load in a major tournament, but it sure is nice to hit the spot the first time out! Bigpops
Congrats on your success! I spent Friday pulling my hair out...shooting through the chrono...reloading...shooting and on and on. Come to find out my new chrono is not very accurate. (had two others verify so) If I may ask, what brand/model of chrono are you using? Thanks, BP

Thanks, BP I had issues with my chrony and the issue turned out to be operator error. I had the chrony about 8' out from the bench and was getting intermittent readings 900 fps, 880 fps, 1500 fps, 920 fps ... After messing around with various set ups I found moving the chorny back to 10-12' brought all the readings in line.

I was worried about its accuracy when I got it, but it matched the chronos at the Single Stack Nationals to within a few fps (easily attributable to ammo variation). That said, since there's no good, universally available way to calibrate chronos, they're all still a little bit of an experiment in voodoo. I will look into that model I purchased the CED M2. It has all of the bells and whistles, the problem is it just has a mind of its own! It will not turn on at times, gives error codes that even CED cannot explain, and now I find that I am shooting my gun at 175PF when I thought it was 169. I sent it back but I am sure I will get the old "we cannot find anything wrong" speech. I just want a chrono that is easy to use and accurate. Pretty simple really. You might consider just swapping your M2 for another. As I understand it, those are the chronos used at most majors, so you may as well have the same chrono they use, if you;re willing tp spend the $$$. Maybe you just got a lemon. I bought mine because I'm cheap.
