open17 Posted August 7, 2008 Share Posted August 7, 2008 XP Pro. Within a few weeks of each other, my wife and I bought laptops. She got a new Gateway with Vista Home Premium. I ebay'ed a Dell Latitude 600, running XP Pro. On paper hers is the bigger/faster/better setup. Nope---side by side my old Dell will run circles around her Gateway. Vista in any version is a buggy power pig. Maybe in a year or so, after they get the bugs out, but for now go with the XP Pro Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Franksremote Posted August 7, 2008 Share Posted August 7, 2008 My vote is XP Pro...if you go with Vista get plenty of memory...it is a hog +1 I really thought some of the "extra" features were cool with Vista, but when a duo core, 3 gig DDR Ram, 7200 rpm computer runs slower than my old laptop with only 512 memory running 2000, it really makes you wonder...
