.38 Super Match

Hi everyone,

I had a somewhat dumb question that I hoped you guys could help me with :-) Should I buy a Tanfoglio .38 Super match? I have a shooting buddy who will sell me one which he has shot about 200 rounds through. I have seen and shot it and it looks as new. The problem is what will I use it for? I suppose it would be great for a steel gun. The question I have are will Hennings 140 pad give me basically 23/24 rounds? Also can I get a magwell for it? Also I can live with the trigger, but will probably put in a long firing pin and new springs (What would you recomend for minor super as far as recoil springs?) Also how much do you think a as new .38 super match should fetch (Has the 2 mags, lockable case, cleaning kit, etc) Thanks in advance.

I take it you're talking about an EAA imported Witness Match in 38? If so, here' what I know, but I have no first hand experience, so take it for what it's worth - hopefully others can correct me if I'm wrong...

-magwells - EAA shows several mag wells in their catalog, some of which 'should' fit our large frame Witness', but, I have never seen them offered over here, and am not sure as to how they'd be installed. I checked Henning's shop, and he sells the one for the competition guns, which is a different part than the ones that would fit our guns, but says it can be installed by a gunsmith. Probably some welding/blending would be in order.

-trigger - Mine is ~3lbs with no creep after just some slight polishing. I love it. But, I can see how a slightly lighter trigger would be nice. Will you outgrow it right away? Depends on your taste in triggers, but I'd say probably not.

-Price - I paid $450 for my 9mm brand new. Judge yours accordingly.

-mags - stock mags run $25-$30 each. Not sure if you're asking about stockers or the long ones...

Hope that helps.
