Owen Sparks
I was playing around with shooting from behind a baracade at home today. On the right side I shot from the right shoulder but on the left side I switched to the left shoulder. Being severly right handed and right eye dominant, this was very awkward for me. I simply could not shoot left handed without closing my right eye. Now I have been taught since childhood to shoot with both eyes open and being right eye dominant, this has become second nature. But off the left shoulder, using the left eye, I could not determine "witch front sight" to use so I had to break the rule and squint. This worked untill one time when I was sweeping right to left firing off the left shoulder and totaly missed a target. Because my right eye was closed I DID NOT SEE that I missed! Everything to the right was obscured. Dad was right, SHOOT WITH BOTH EYES OPEN! I guess the thing for me to do is to sit on the couch and practice aiming left handed and left eyed at the TV untill it becomes natural, or at least doable. Have any of you found a way around this delima? OS
SinistralRifleman
with iron sights, you pretty much have to use the eye for the shoulder you're shooting off of. Using dot sights, both eyes open is a lot easier.
