packed
I am told to reload to say 1.75 OAL on a 40 S&W and crimp at .420. The crimp is what I don't get. I resize then spread the shell then press the bullet in until I reach the OAL. When I put the casing in the press I run it up with the handle then screw the die down until it touches the casing then I set the OAL by screwing it in until I reach the AOL i need what am I missing here? Thank you.
stockton
The crimp is a separate operation. What press and what dies you using?

TBF
packed, You will be alot happier with the results if you add a Lee Factory Crimp die to your set and use the Redding to seat the bullet only , without crimping. This adds an extra step , which is a bummer on a single stage. The Lee FCD is cheap and good . Travis F.
