ESP AGC recovery time

Is anyone using ESP in-ear electronic hearing protection? If so, are they worth the price?

 

I'm especially interested in how fast automatic gain control recovers after the shot. Many other ear pro models have pretty slow recovery time, making it difficult to hear people when someone is shooting nearby. For a fraction of a second after each shot the electronic circuit doesn't let any sound through, so the speech is chopped up.

 

Pro Ears and Howard Leight Impact Sports recover fast, MSA Sordin and Peltor are slow. I wonder where ESP falls on this spectrum, and whether their less expensive analog models are any different in this respect. My hearing is fine, I don't need any amplification or sound correction.

 

If not ESP, then what?
