carpet1
I thought I was starting to understand extractors and how to adjust. Brought an older Kimber target 1911, pre series 2, and shot it Sat. ran without a problem, Several different mags and loads. went home to clean it and noticed there was no tension on the extractor. Would not come close to holding a round or case, but extracted everything. I think someone had put a new extractor in and did not adjust it. I put about 15 ounces of tension, and it works. Should I leave it alone?

carpet1
That is what I have, with the brass shims and a weight gauge. The 45 shim would not stay in place, slid right out.
carpet1
How the gun ran, I don't know. Shot complete IDPA match with no problems
bountyhunter
Some guns will extract with no tension, obviously not ideal. I run mine in the 12 - 20 ounce range so 15 is dead on.
