BOOM
I bought a after market spring for a pump shotgun. How long should the magazine spring extend past the magazine tube end. So I can cut it
mulrick
Depends on the type. If the extension is a nordic or similar in that can be opened up at the top, then 12-14" past. If it is of the Choat/ one piece variety, you take the length of the extension + 12".

BOOM
Update;(Watch out) for the gun smith that tells you this spring is universal and fits in any shotgun NOT!
mulrick
Yeah, and also take the 12-14" as a guideline... I know shotguns that run reliably with less and those that need more. I tend to buy a few for every shotgun and play with a few lengths to get optimal feeding/reliability
NisilS14
I think you could get away a little less with a pump. I ignorantly had the spring length same as the mag tube when I put a +2 extension onto my 870 and it ran without a hiccup. I currently have it with 12" past a 10 round tube. Loads quick and not overly stiff.
