40sw barrel hood area

question, why do some 40/10 cal. slides have a curved area opposite of the ejection port, at the rear hood location? I have seen many slides without this curved area, where it is just straight and some older Colt Delta guns 10mm, have this curved section.

What type of barrel would you use for a replacement? Or is the replacement barrel fitted to fit this curved area?

I think this is just Colt's style of machining the ejection port.

The barrel hood width is probably similar as the others (Caspian, STI, etc.) about 0.375 in.
