quadra
I just noticed that when I dry fire my 629 mountain gun the hammer nose bushing moves slightly out of the frame. My other two smiths do not do this. Is very slight "looseness" of the bushing a problem? Thanks.
Randy Lee
Greetings, The firing pin bushing in the frame is typically press fit into the frame and then staked securely in place. You should see a swaging impression around the bushing on the breech face metal itself. Is this a newer model with the frame mounted firing pin or the older version where the firing pin is hammer mounted? Also, if it is a newer model is it the original factory firing pin? quadra
Randy. Thanks for your input. This is a newer model with a transfer bar and separate firing pin. To my knowledge it is the stock firing pin. I have contacted S&W. They are sending me a mailer. They said they will take care of it. So far S&W has been good to deal with. Randy Lee
quadra, That's good to hear and I'm sure S&W will take care of the problem. Best, Randy
