TheMiz
I don't know how else to title this topic, but I have a side folding stock that is short and I have been trying to design and build a rubber pad that also adds to the length of the stock. I have successfully built on, but I glued the rubber to a piece of lexan and then mounted it to the butt that way. Any ideas for shaping material to fit the stock like a glove? Most of mine looked pretty poor, but functioned ok. I have tried tracing the outline of the butt on paper, but cutting it correctly and straight has been a challenge. Any techniques or tricks are welcomed.
kmca
This is the jig I use to fit recoil pads: http://www.brownells.com/search/index.htm?k=recoil+pad+jig&ksubmit=y I don't remember paying that much though If I knew where you were, we might be able to work something out. EkuJustice
Talk to the small shoe repair shops. One around here will grind one to fit for like 8 bucks you just bring it in on the stock only since they aren't a gun ffl its not much different than a shoe heel. If you do I yourself move the pad in one direction and use a jig. The pachmar pads are easier to grind than say a kickeez the key is not letting the pad get too hot
TheMiz
I should probably include more detail. I have a bulgarian and a russian side folding stock. The russian is not on a fire arm. They are identical in terms of the butt. bulgarian side folding stock These stocks are short and fold to the side of the firearm. I am looking to fit a rubber pad to increase the length of pull and get the angle of the pad correct, so it will mount cleanly. There are two holes that are at angles on the butt itself. Will the jig above work for pads that aren't for shotgun or standard rifle stocks? There is no pad made that will fit this stock and still allow it to fold. Thanks for the help thus far.
