aggunner
Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone is running one of these barrels with the fixed front sight base and noticed that the front sight base is canted by 3-5*. If so were you able to get the rifle to zero? Only reason I'm asking is because I'm shooting limited this weekend and don't have time to get the barrel back to them and noticed about half an hour ago when I got the upper together. Mark Gale
I'm going to bet the barrel assembly was not installed in the upper receiver correctly. My guess is it is canted to the left. Installing barrel assemblies properly can be problematic without the right tools.

Action block, supplied troy barrel nut wrench, and a torque wrench same tools i've used to assemble 80 other uppers

aggunner
Yep, but looking at it, the FSB isn't straight compared to the gas block which is also pinned.
Mark Gale
With the FSB canted left, we know that the index pin is sitting against the left side of the index notch in the upper receiver. You will have to loosen the the barrel nut, massage the barrel to the right a bit and re-torque the barrel nut without allowing the barrel to move again. A lever passed through the FSB to apply a bit counter torque is an option.
aggunner
Used a taped up handle on a crescent wrench to apply pressure on the FSB during assembly
Mark Gale
How did you verify that the FSB is in alignment with the centerline of the upper receiver?
