shannon-mccollum Posted March 12, 2011 Share Posted March 12, 2011 i bougt a mod 10 s&w a few weeks ago and been meaning to get a pic posted . i was shooting it thursday and had a mishap . not sure yet what caused it but the end result was a forcing cone that was mushroomed very bad . Toolguy Posted March 12, 2011 Share Posted March 12, 2011 That's a common problem on K frames. The forcing cone area is pretty thin to begin with, then there is a flat on the bottom to clear the crane when it closes. A lot of them just split at the bottom, but once that splits, the rest of it can go too. The only fix is a new barrel. I only shoot L and N frames for matches because of that.
