seeds76
I'm thinking of getting an ambidextrous mag release for my 1911. Here's why: I currently shoot an XDm with the stock ambidextrous mag release. I have small hands and I usually have trouble getting my thumb over to the mag release quickly. I've found that I can get much faster reloading times using my middle finger to hit the mag release instead of my thumb. In addition, I can maintain my grip on the gun without having to re-adjust after hitting the mag release. Now I want to start shooting with my 1911 in USPSA/IDPA matches. Is retrofitting my 1911 with an ambidextrous mag release and using my finger instead of my thumb illegal/frowned upon/or just plain wrong?
mgood
I don't think there's anything illegal about it. I've seen one like that and I'm considering it myself. I have to shift the pistol in my hand to hit the mag release with my thumb and then shift it back to a shooting grip.
