  1. I'm #28 on the list right now, and will be there regardless to try for a spot if I don't get off the waitlist.

    Matt Griffin, U.

I would have thought that Silver Creek would have given you a slot Matt. I cannot make it on those dates, so count me out.

I believe I asked too late; so it goes. I should get in anyway, and I have an earned slot to L10, so it will be a big week for a first-timer.

    H.

FTR, Silver Creek was in the Kentucky Section last year and we were not awarded slots. As of 2008, we're in the IN section. Maybe next year?

  2. Yes, the *preliminary* results are up. Challenge period will expire tomorrow night at 9:32PM EST. Please contact David Ball if you have any question.

Also, the drawings were also held

    winners:

    Jason C. of Ohio

    Ron C. of Indiana

Final results will also appear on indianauspsa.com and silvercreekcc.org after the challenge period expires. I am working on the photo gallery now.

  3. The company that I work for has more than forty certified nutritionists on staff and I get to chat with most of them on a weekly or monthly basis. Granted most of their experience is in geriatric nutrition and non that I know of have experience in sports nutrition specifically. I get polar reactions from them when I ask about vegetarian diets. Either they strongly endorse a vegetarian diet or they are ambivalent. However, I've noted that those nutritionists recommending a vegetarian diet are with few exceptions vegetarian or vegan and appear by all obvious measures to be in decent or better shape. And it's hard to take criticism of vegetarian diets from an overweight non-veg nutritionist seriously.

I've talked with most of them in various degrees of detail about the USPSA sport and regardless of their stance on vegetarianism they all seem to agree that proper hydration is the most important concern and that after than there no special considerations that are of any significance outside of any existing health or nutritional problems or needs you may have. Regarding mental alertness and memory: most recommended mental exercise instead of nutritional supplements. And most strongly recommended sun screen and eye-(UV ray) protection!

In the first week of December I started a Medifast Diet Plan (http://www.medifastdiet.org) that I have been gradually transitioning into a vegan diet. I've lost 40lbs in two months. I have about 40 more to lose but I'm off the medifast and going full-out vegan for a least a few months.

Before looking for books on vegetarian sports nutrition, I'd recommend a good book on a plant-based diet: The China Study by Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Thomas Campbell. http://www.thechinastudy.com/

Sorry to get so far OT but we were headed in that direction anyway.

  4. Hidden Hills Practical Shooters will host a special USPSA classifier match on Sunday March 16th at Silver Creek Conservation Club in Sellersburg Indiana: http://www.silvercreekcc.org

This match will have four classifier stages and one field course. Match fee will be $20.00 and Hidden Hills 2008 Club Dues ($25) will be payable at that time. This special match will be followed on the same day by Silver Creek's monthly ATA Registered Trap Shoot.

    Hope to see you then!

    Thanks,

    Dominic Bosco

    President Hidden Hills Practical Shooters

    Secretary Silver Creek Conservation Club.

  5. http://www.havlinsales.com/

The above link has several 590 threaded barrels .

Click the link, go to " modern shotguns " , go to " accessory barrels ".

    $ 85 each plus shipping.

I tried to make the link go directly to that page, but I'm a computer idiot.

    Travis F.

+1 on Havlin Sales. They have the 20" 590 barrel on close out for $79.95 + shipping and it's got a ghost ring front sight and is threaded for accuchokes, which is all you need

  6. Ok, after just buzzing the IN section coordinator about class info I searched and found this. If I can't find a class that's closer and sooner I am going to make this one.

I live in Louisville, KY. If anyone wants to carpool and/or split hotel room costs, please pm me.

    Thanks, Dom

  7. It never ceases to amaze me how many people don't know how to unload the shotgun without having to chamber rounds first.

The method Kurt loads with is much easier to go along with once you realize live rounds are not going into the chamber. It used to concern me, until I realized that .

Now, I just use live rounds.

    Trapr

Hey, I searched instead of starting a new thread! Hooray for me.

Can you elaborate on how to "pinch the cutoff lever" for us shotgun noobs?

  8. Has anbody tried Billy bullets? Thye are not as cheap as master blasters but may be another alternative. I am trying some lead from bulletworks next week for practice and local matches.

To bad to here MB is closing,

Billy Bullets are a very good moly coated bullet and Rudy is a great guy.

    dcalvert

I had been buying BearCreek's moly coated bullets because they were cheaper than MasterBlasters and just as good but now it looks they dropped out as well. Precision makes a great product and I hope he stays in business. I will check out Billy Bullets.
