  1. I have shot two USPSA matches in the Phoenix area, one at SGC and one at Rio. In both cases I believe everyone shooting Production loaded thier guns to maximum capacity. I certainly did. I shoot a CZ75 9mm, 16 rounds. I saw several Glocks 17 loaded up as well. The rules are clear; in USPSA its 10 rounds and in IPSC there is no limit, except the magazine can not be modified, for Production class. I don’t want to get use to 16 rounds which seem to be acceptable around here and then get someplace where the rule is enforced. I also don’t want to be the one to make an issue out of it at the matches I shoot and hold everyone to 10 rounds. I personally believe in this day and age of high capacity 9mm and .40’s you should be able to use what your gun holds as delivered from the manufacture as long as it fits inside the box or is on the ISPC list. I like the IPSC rule. Lower capacity guns can shoot Limited 10 so as not to be at a disadvantage. Most of the lower capacity guns seem to be the .45’s which qualify for major power anyway. What does everyone think about this? What did they do at the Desert Classic?
  2. I bought a new CZ75B. I’m using it to shoot USPSA production class. When I press the magazine release button the magazine drops about one inch and stops. It requires my pulling it to get it clear of the gun. How do I get it to simply fall free after being released? (Side note I shot a Glock 17, and an XD-9 Tactical and personally much prefer the CZ75B. I do have rather large hands which might be part of the reason I like the CZ75B. I would strongly encourage any one shopping for a 9mm to try one. My gun club/store has a hopeless case of Glock on the brain. They have 7 or 8 Glocks in the rental program and no CZ75s. I had to order mine from internet which was no problem.)
  3. I just finished an intro to practical shooting class at my local gun club. Every one was great and I had a good time. I’m going to start shooting USPSA matches in my area. Not to knock the instructor, but he recommended a couple of DVD’s that just happened to be by friends of his and sold at my local club. While I will never fault a business for having a profit motive it occurred to me that there are probably a fair number of DVDs and books out there. Seeing as healthy debate seems to be a regular part of this forum my question to everyone is, what is the best instructional DVD and/or book to purchase to begin to improve one's skills for USPSA matches? I have no formal pistol training. I did shoot 35 A's and 1 B out of 36 on the two easy stages we shot at the end of class.
