  1. If you want in your face training, Gabe is the man. Paul Howe, Kyle Lamb, Brain Searcy and of course Vickers, are great training in the combat arena, they have been there and done that. They will also teach you that this is a way to do something, not the way; which means a lot in my book. Any force on force training is way better than sitting on a square range, if you already have an understanding of which end a bullet comes out. Good Luck in your adventure.

  2. Someone musical, perhaps. No shortage of braggarts, uh, I mean self promoters, in Nashville.

What vehicle do they drive in Nashville? I will show them a little Humility. :roflol:

  3. A little known but very good plus not to expensive bourbon is the Old Weller Antique 107 proof 7 year old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. It is by the W. L Weller group and you can find on internet for $20/30 a bottle.

To me its better than most $60/70 bottles.

I buy it by case and replace it when numbers get low. It is not always available.

If you get a chance, but a shot in a warm brandy sniffer and take a good inhale before roll it around your tongue.

    "warm brandy sniffer" ?

  4. I work Nashville and the worst night was Friday, we had fights, a stabbing and lines of cars from the gas stations going out into the roadway. People would jump in front of the line like they are at the lunch line in high school. Just think how the fine folks here Nash Vegas reacts to this, wait till something big happens. We had one lady actual get pi** off because TDOT only but 1 Gallon of gas in her car and that was free. I hate people that are why I work a K-9.

  5. For me, one overlooked aspect of the Heller decision is that the Supreme Court did not address, at all, the issue of whether Heller had standing to challenge DC's gun ban, not even in dicta. (It could be that Washington D.C. did not challenge Heller's standing in its appeal to the Supreme Court) The DC Court of Appeals' opinion dealt with it extensively (as did the lower circuit court), ultimately finding that Heller did in fact have standing, under Article III of the Constitution. The DC Appellate Court found that the other five plaintiffs did not have standing to challenge DC's gun ban. It will be interesting to see if subsequent courts deal with a plaintiff's standing to challenge a gun control law.

Also interesting is that the Supreme Court did not address why it had the authority to hear the case, i.e., how the 2nd Amendment was applicable to Washington D.C. (which is neither a state nor part of the US Gov't.)

"Heller, 66 a one-time security officer, was one of six plaintiffs orginally recruited to challenge the law, and the only one whom lower court judges deemed to have the legal standing necessary to proceed." www.mcclatchydc.com/homepage/v-print/story/42260.html

  6. This was a great class, the weather was great, the new shooters I met were great, Manny was great, my gun ran great it didn't break. {sorry Tony} My overall view of the two days of shooting and learning are, you know it was GREAT. Thanks guys for making these days of learning and improving in this sport that we choose to beat ourselves up in, {or at least I beat my self up in, no I did get a stick to the back, thanks Yoda}. Ron

  7. This is great, this came at the right time for me. I am sitting here at the kitchen table with both of Steve Andersons book, Saul Kirsch's Thinking Practical Shooting, Matt Burkett's Practical Shooting Manual, notebook paper, excel spreadsheet on the computer, a monthly planner. And I am still lost on where to start with a down to the bones good training program for this year. Then I come here to relax, then bang your here with what I need. Thanks, this is great. Ron

  8. A police officer, now working a police K-9 before that working in an undercover role as the biggest redneck you could find. Bought a lot of dope and whores, got out of the whore business and went to dogs they smell better than whores and the dogs have all of there teeth. 40 yoa and still don't know what I want to be when I grow up. With this job I still feel like the hardest job for me is to raise my kids and be the dad they need:)

  9. Other than that it is from a movie, what does this image mean to you? It speaks volumes to me. What do you think his state of mind is in that picture and how do you think it would transfer over to shooting?

The average joke is to be expected, but please if you feel the need to make a joke, post something constructive with it. ;)

I would add to KNOW your enemy! In this case look at the wolf, what does he look like? Tail down and not up, what does that mean to you? Means to me is that the wolf does not want to be here and he thinks that the man is more dominant. Also look at the wolfs hair, it is up. He his trying to posture and scare the man away so the wolf doesnt have to fight. The man is low and is ready to fight. Know your enemy, be it the enemy that is in front of you or the enemy which is in you. Know what the enemy feeds off of, will it be your weakness or will it feed off someone elses weakness. It is your choice.

  10. I just got my first STI yesterday used with only aprox. 200 rds. through it. I am a Glock shooter and to purchase this pistol made me more nerveous than I want to explain. I got the Eagle 5.0 stock, just like a true shooter I quess, the first thing I did is to put on a Ice Mag and a over size mag. release. I will add more later, be safe and watch your 6.

So how do you like the Ice? I guess I need to get one on the way!

I like the Ice real well, I had it on my Glock 35 and it is so nice to see that great big hole to throw your mag. into.

  12. Let's just say it...if they are not a competitive shooter of some kind...cops can't shoot well at all...every statistic bears this out, from all the matches I and others have had with them to the Utube videos showing them shooting themselves, and missing the BG's in every case, to almost shooting a perp who is handcuffed and on the ground...

    They just can't shoot...

Howdy, when I first read this my first responce was anger. And I was going to give you a peace of my mind, then I thought how true the words that I am reading truely are. Then I thought of how I in the years of shooting from a boy to the military and now as a cop and competitive shooter, all have different reason for shooting a gun. As a boy, to act big and kill something to eat. The military to shoot good so I will still be shooting and the enemy will not be shooting and be Dead. As a cop to care a pistol, a shotgun, a AR and with me a trained police canine not to mention all the paperwork to write tickets and reports. To deal with the scum and low lifes of society, not like shooting on a sunny day @ the range but on Christmas, my kids birthdays, during the cold of winter to the hot days of sumner. Never knowing that the next vehicle that I pull over may be my last or the next time I go after a suspect that is reported armed, later finding the suspect and he turns and points it at me or other officers and we as you say miss or get luckly and hit the suspect. To find out later that the suspect was a child of 13 yoa and the weapon of choice was a plastic black water pistol. Yea I can see that your words to hold some meaning and I wish that some of my fellow officers would shoot some matches, but you must think that some do come and they don't shoot as well as you and others at matches and they read something like your words or here your words at the range, do you think they will come back? Competitive shooting is competitive shooting in IDPA, USPSA, NRA or any other sport, I like it because it relaxs me and I get to spend time with friends and I am getting to old to play football or moto cross. Had a great time and wish you all well. And may LnJC be with you all and your family. Ron
