  1. I hope you folks don't mind my questions and joining the forum, but this forum seems to be the only place with a large information pool on the Stoeger 3000. First let me point out that I am not a 3-gunner, and honestly I don't plan to be in the near future. I have nothing at all against it, but it's something I've never gotten into. I'm also not new to firearms or shotguns in general. I'm 52 and have been shooting since I was in single digits. I'm very familiar with 870's, having started shooting them at 12 years old and have consistently owned at least 1 at all times since then. Just a few months ago I built 4 custom 870's for my son's for Christmas. I have built/customized Mauser rifles and pretty much do my own gunsmithing. I have a basic machine shop at my house. None of that really matters, I only tell it to try to make the point I'm not buying my first gun ever, nor will this be the first I've ever worked on. That said, after building the 870's I got the itch for a semi auto. That started me down the path of which one could be dead reliable. Getting to the point, I bid on an auction site and won a Stoeger M3000 18.5" with standard (non pistol grip) stock. It's not a freedom model, just a standard 4+1. I'm not sure how many of the mods and tips here apply to me, I don't intend to run really light loads. I live out in the country and this gun will be for non-competition uses. What I would like help with is: adding a mag extension. I've seen recommendations for MOA, Nordic, and I think another. I have used Carlson's on my 870's. What length tube do I need to be flush with 18.5 barrel? would that be +2 or +3? I would prefer a one-piece tube/nut for strength if possible Possibly adding Ghost ring sights. Ideally I would love a set of Trak Lock sights like I have on my 870's, but I'm open to the practicality of what is available versus easily adaptable. All of my non-wingshooting shotguns are set up for slugs and buckshot. adding a barrel clamp and light mount along with a sling attachment. I would love to have wood stocks for and aft. This is not a requirement by any means, I just really like the look. Edited to add: I have considered porting the barrel to help with muzzle flip from heavy loads. I would love to know if there is any down side to porting the barrel on an inerta gun? Again, I hope you don't mind the somewhat off-topic questions. If this is out of place or unwanted here, no harm no foul just delete and message me to take it somewhere else. Thank you in advance. Scott
