  1. what equipment race??? open pistols have been the same pattern since 1991. Barnhart shot the typical double stack .35 caliber comp gun as everyone else in 1990 and added a dot sight. the 1991 the race/open pistol is the same as it is today.  limited rules are virtually unchanged since limited was first introduced to uspsa.

again i ask, what equipment race????

  2. i believe there is a need for ROs to be reviewed.  at the 2000 USPSA nationals i was in the womens' super squad. on one stage there was an ax stuck in a board between 2 black lines.  the CRO was very specific that the ax remain in the board and that we take a proper "chopping" grip.  the next morning, the mens' super squad shot that stage with the ax standing on end and were allowed to "hold" the ax by placing finger tips on the end of the ax. when several of us protested the change in start postition we were told to leave, by the very same CRO who admonished us to assume the "correct" starting postition. this CRO was TOTALLY in awe of the super squad and ignored the printed range instructions. and i DID let the MD know about it. i was told he would NOT  be invited to the nationals as an RO again!

  3. when ROing a new shooter, if i see they have not seated a magazine i will ask "are you SURE you are ready?" usually this will tip them off that something is not right.  for experienced shooters i let it slide.  we have all done range sillies and we DO want newbies to have fun and come back!!

  4. the best compliment our club ever received was at a state sectional at which all clubs designed, built and staffed one stage each. we built a wall with various windows. the stage description was "start in box A, from box B you may NOT shoot over, under or around the wall.   box B was 8' deep and 48' wide. only 2 targets were NOT visible from 2 0R more windows. Jerry Barnhart, shooting a single stack 45, blazed through the stage, beating the next Master by 15% ( there was no GM then). he walked off the stage with a mile wide smile and said " now THAT is an ipsc stage".

  5. i have had front serrations on my pistols since before i used a scope. i ALWAYS reach from under the frame and have never touched the barrel.  i now use Chuck Heitt scope mounts and you cannot touch the left rear of the slide and i abhor cocking levers.  i too hold the pistol with the port at the hood so the RO can more easily see my empty chamber.

No coolness factor ever entered into my decision to have front serrations.

and one of my old shooting buddies suffered a severe gash on his palm when he used the rear serrations and the pistol slam fired, bomars are sharp

  6. i have a hogue monogrip on my bull barreled model 10. however, i borrowed my friend Machelles' 686+ for a match while mine was being rebarreled. she has the Pachmyer Decelerators and i shot better with her revo than i ever did with mine
