Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Good news boys! Shot my 35 today and put a little over 100 rounds of the dreaded Wal-mart Winchester white box ammo with only one failure to eject with the second mag. A total of six mags run through as fast as I could shoot and change mags. Only thing I will do is change the recoil spring to a lighter weight. It seemed to drag or cycle the slide a little slower than normal with the .40 cal. At any rate my fears have been relieved. Accuracy was very good and I can't say enough about JR or LW. I'd not hesitate to use or recommend. Again, thanks for everyones input.
  2. Just to let everyone know what I found out late last night and today. The rounds used to cycle at the outset were 147 IMI hollow points. I switched back to the original ejector and got some S&B 115 I had and it cycled and ejected without a hitch. Today I spoke to JR at LW and he stated much of what some of you have said. Because of the particular type of ammo (IMI) that the chamber may need to be opened up but otherwise the barrel was designed to SAAMI specs. Changing the barrel should be all one needs but there may be an occasion where the extractor or ejector may need to be changed as well but "normally" the barrel is all that needs to be swapped. He also stated that he/they would do whatever needed to be done to make it right. Great person to talk to and deal with. I will be shooting Wednesday so I'll post my results that night. Appreciate everyone's input.
  3. I have just received a Lone Wolf 9mm conversion barrel for my G35. Does anyone know if I put rounds through this barrel if LW will take it back? I have changed the barrel and ejector (to a 9mm) but cycling rounds using G17 mags has been inconsistent at best. It has double fed rounds, failed to eject and I notice that the base of the case is not flush with the .40 extractor. Any feedback would be appreciated!
  4. If I purchase a 9mm barrel such as a KKM to drop in my G35 don't I also have to change the extractor?
  5. Thanks guy's for the responses. Pharaoh, to answer your question I'm getting older, I have too many "safe queens" and my agency is most likely going to transition to the G22 so parts, mags, ammo, etc will be available and last, I don't have the time anymore to practice to get beyond hopefully Master class. I realize the STI is a better weapon but maybe someone else will get more enjoyment out of it than I will. Anyone have any suggestions on a holster for the G35? I thought I'd try Kydex but is anyone making a holster for that length of slide?
  6. In the interest of simplifying my life I'm selling my STI 2011 Edge.40 and switching to the Glock 35. I'd like to dabble in limited, limited 10 and production. I assume that in production you are limited to certain modifications but my questions are can you change trigger weight, length of pull and modify the grip. Should I forgo Production and modify the trigger weight, length of pull or just leave it and shoot a stock trigger? I started shooting USPSA 20 years ago using a stock Glock 17 but migrated to the 1911 platform and have been out of competitive shooting for awhile now but I'm itching to get back into competitive pistol shooting again. I've purchased a Glock 35 and have already changed sights to a set from Dawson's. I have big hands and would like to do something with the grip as well so help me out and give me some advice. Looking forward to hearing from y'all! Thanks!
