  1. i currently I load 185 precision black with 4.6 wst/ 1.2oal for limited = 170 PF

Need to cut down to 1.3 OAL for a single stack 40 mag , anyone have a good starting point?? 4.3?? Less???

    Just wondering please and thanks

I know I should start low and build up, but I am trying to conserve till things let up

A 185 grain cast bullet over 4.3 grains of WST loaded to 1.135 OAL makes major in my 5 inch 40 caliber Trojan. Should get ypu pretty close with your precision bullets.

  2. When you say "delay" are you meaning the slide seems to catch when moving forward? Mine was doing the same thing every once in a while depending on the bullet profile I was shooting. If I rode my slide forward I could induce a three point jamb that could be remedied by bumping the slide forward. I had the issue with SWC and Truncated Cone profile bullets. I never had a problem with round nose. Me, being a 1911 kind of guy, removed my M&P extractor and smoothed up and slightly increased the bevel on the bottom of the extractor hook similar to tuning a 1911 extractor.........no more "delay".

  3. Zombie,

Thanks for the information. I already signed up to be notified... we'll see how long that takes! You don't happen to shoot at the Bullet Hole do you?

Those bulged bullets will feed (but not plunk) into my 75BD and eject just fine, but not in my Shadow.

Guess I will await the arrival of a new sizing die to completely fix my problem, until then I'll plunk test my loaded rounds and put the "big" ones away for use in my wife's gun...

    Shane,

PM me with your mailing address and I will send you a 9mm EGW/Lee U die....no charge (if I can find it).

  4. I just went thru the same thing actually. Brand new m&p with sear and USB installed. It had a double click. After a few days polishing checking the trigger safety swapping trigger assy's and messing with it I took a striker assy's out of one of my other guns and that fixed it. The funny thing is the striker from the new gun worked just fine in my others. I thought I had a bad sear too so I called apex and they sent me a new one. It did the same thing. Try swapping strikers if you can.

Just today, I installed a new striker that I got from Brownells. It did not fix my situation. I may head for my work bench and start swapping parts from my other M&Ps.

  5. Could be your trigger bar loop. That may be engaging the USB really early and causing the feeling you're getting. Also, are you sure it's not the trigger safety catching on the way up?

    Thank you for the information.

I guess the trigger bar loop may be the culprit. The trigger safety is not catching on the way up.

  6. I have a new M&P Pro 9mm that seems to have a two stage trigger. When I press the trigger, I can feel the sear start to move, then it kind of hangs up just prior to releasing the sear. I have installed an Apex competition sear/spring kit and polished the daylights out of everything possible. The trigger was just plain nasty prior to the Apex install. I have three other M&Ps and have been very successful installing Apex stuff and just polishing up the stock parts. I am starting to think I have a sear block that may out of spec. Any ideas?

    Thanks Dave

  7. Just to throw out another idea......if you are going to shoot factory length 40 calibers (1.135 or shorter) you may want to try the Tripp 40 caliber mags instead of the 10mms. I have both for my STI Trojan 40 and prefer the 40 calibers if I am shooting 1.135 length rounds.

  8. So it seems like 135 gr should be around 3.7-3.8 and 147 gr should be around 3.3-3.4...?

Also, can anyone explain the differences between the different Winchester powders?(WSF,WST, 231)

You are right on the money guessing 3.3 - 3.4 grains of WST and a 147 grain bullet.

  9. 3.8 grains of WST under that 135 grain bullet = one happy camper..........

Is this with m&p 5in? OAL?

    OAL = 1.130

M&P 5 inch pro and also in my 4 inch M&P. When I was shooting a CZ -75 SP01 I also used this load.
