  1. Anyone tried this? Im broke and cant afford a real timer at the moment. Of course it takes two people to do this. I was curious if someone has and what the difference is in time. Obviously we couldnt get split times. We would just determine how many shots were going to be fired and the person timing would hit the stop button when they heard the last round fired.

  2. in corpus christi, just last week a 14 year old kid (young man) shot a criminal who had broke into his house, tied him and his mother up, and threatened to kill him and his mother multiple times. the young man and his mother then got free, and run up stairs. As the criminal tired to push the door open, the young man and his mother held it closed. As the door was being forced open, the boy stuck his fathers gun in the opening and shot the criminal one time in the head killing him instantly...

they said that the boy would be mentally scared forever... i say not nearly as mentally scared as him seeing his mother raped and killed in front of his eyes... hats off to a brave kid.

  3. I understand dryfire as far drawing and dryfiring once but when talking about dryfiring while practicing engaging multiple targets i dont understand. How do you reset the trigger without cycling the slide.Do you draw and dryfire on the first target, find the next target and imagine your pulling the trigger?

  4. Expectations.

That can be a huge monkey for us to carry around on our backs.

I think it can lead to pride. I find pride...to be a negative emotion.

John,im glad everything is going better for you.

  5. John i kinda heisitated about posting this cause its kind of embarassing but i get the same way a lot. Ive been powerlifting drug free for several years and got to the point where i found myself not enjoying it. If i broke a record i was on top of the world but failure in the gym would put me in a horrible mood towards everybody. I actually find myself trying to lean that way towards my shooting. I ended up tearing a bicep which put me out for a while. Maybe its some sorta compulsive disorder. Sometimes i would actually avoid doing a certain lift out of fear i wouldnt do as good before and i knew how it would bring me down. I took a layoff and when i came back i felt great. Sometimes i start to get the same way towards shooting. If i go out and im not doing as good as before it would get me down. Im finally realizing what the real important things are in life (wife, kids, health) and the other is for fun.

  6. Houngan, Ive read where it is impossible for the human eye to completely focus on two objects at once. Your description sounds like what i have been doing. I see both but at close range have been focusing more on the target. I have never been able to clearly see both at the same time. So far it has worked but im wondering how much better i can be if i can practice the other way. The dry firing practice has helped. It seems its just a matter of training the eyes. Im working it both ways, i figure it never hurts to have more tools on the belt.

  7. I've done a search but still need a little clarification. First off i dont compete would like to eventually though. Im a deputy Sheriff and have been an LEO for 6years. My quest is regarding sight focus. I have always shot for groups on my own. I've heard sight focus and thought thats what i was doing until i was looking on the bullseye website where they explained what you should be looking at. It's impossible to focus on both sights and targets at the same time. I BELIEVE i have been focusing on the target more and using the sights with my Periphial vision since they are right there with each other. For years i have done this. Im am no marksman by any means but i havent scored less than a 100 on qualifications in 6 years (which would be childs play for all of you). I have taken my last 9 targets and i average 3-4in groups at 25yds offhand for 8shot groups. This is with g20 and XTP factory. At 50 it jumps to about 11-12in groups (THAT FRONT SIGHT IS HUGE AT 50). Now close range defensive shooting is where im confused with both eyes open. Im right handed left eye dominant. Let say im shooting at a 3in target square with the letter A in it at 10 yds. I shouldnt be able to make out the letter A right? Because my focus should be on the front sight..right? I should just see a blurred target. The way ive been doing it was focus on the target pull the gun up and see the front post which is blurred but right in the middle of my target. I can tell its there. If i focus completely on the front sight in a defensive situation i cant tell what the aggressor is doing Even though i can see him if im focused on the front target i wouldnt be able to tell if he is pulling a weapon or just moving his hands out of his pockets. Im also anxious to try completely focusing on the front sight at 25yds and seeing if that improves my groups. Thanks, Jeff
