  1. We will be using self squadding, and unless you have a need for a shoot-through pass, the schedule is half days for the duration of the match. USPSA will not receive squad requests, since it's a self squadded match.

    Troy

I know this is a stupid question, but how do I self-squad? Can we do that now? Because I can't seem to find the directions on how to go about self squadding....

  2. Started bulk invites today from the Wait List. PLEASE be sure to check your classification page to see if your name came up. I'm sending out email notices as well, but email is less than perfect so be sure to check your record for backup.

    Thanks!

    Hi Kim.

the ATF won't process my form 6 unless I have an invitation to the US nationals. Can I request for one?

I already paid for my slot

  3. I am fired up! Haven't had this much fun planning a match in a long time. :D

    Hi Linda,

I actually also posted this in GV but I'd like to know:

    1) what would be less hassle for a foreign shooter travelling with their shotgun? land in nashville and cross into KY or land in louisville? I'm not familiar with TN and KY state laws regarding transport of firearms. also, it would be a shorter stopover wait for me if I landed in nashville.

    2) since the available hotel options would be cave city or bowling green, should we keep the shotgun locked in the car trunk at the hotel overnight or can we bring it into our hotel rooms? or can we keep it somewhere near the range?

    Thanks

    Raul

  4. What kind of ammo are you using that you believe you can not buy that is already here? I would encourage you to do a google search to see if you can buy it from a US dealer and have it shipped somewhere you can pick it up. If that fails, are you sure you can not find just as good or better ammo that you can buy off of the shelf?

    1) in the international matches i have been to, some of the available shotgun ammo are longer than the 2 5/16 inches that fit on the strippers i use.

    2) most of them have a PF much much higher than the 480 floor needed. i have mine loaded to about 540

    3) i know the shot pattern of the ammo i have been using for the past 5 years

    4) with a lot of no-shoots, being familiar with the shot pattern would probably be a good idea

    5) trying out new ammo, checking what fits best on my stripper, patterning it for various distances for the various chokes, checking out the point of impact of the slugs at various distances etc, then ordering a considerable quantity of slugs, birdshot and buckshot would mean i would have to be in the US, at the very least, more than a week before the match

    6) including travel, (i live in asia) that would mean i would have to be off work for at least two weeks (a half-month)

    7) with my own ammo, i could just go, shoot the match and leave

but i'll give your suggestion a shot (no pun intended). thanks

    Hi Linda,

I would like to use my own ammo. would it be legal to ship a bunch of shotgun ammo into the US ahead of the match? How do I go about doing it?

I tried looking at the ATF website but couldn't find the right guidelines/permit.

    Thanks in advance

sorry, forgot to mention i'm from outside of the US

  7. This makes me curious. (This is from someone who is having a 6" built, so this is not a mean post) I started a thread in the Nationals section mentioning an observation I made at the Nationals. All but one person on the Limited SS who was shooting a 2011 was shooting a 5"--and very plain, basic 5" guns at that. Voight shot a 6". Even TJ, who shot a 6" last year, was shooting a 5" this year. If it is so obviously better, why are the best shooters in the world not using them? It could be something as simple as their 6" was in the shop or something, but it could be something else as well. Oh well--I'll let you all know what I think after I get my 6" :)

It might have been so because the targets at this year's nationals were mostly up close. Increase the target distances and we would probably have seen more top shooters use a 6'

  8. I am an IPSC shooter, this was my first US Nationals, my first time shooting USPSA and my first time shooting USPSA production. I have shot Austalasia, Worldshoot and several level 3 matches worldwide.

    My observations:

The RO's are among the most friendly, helpful and down to earth guys I have come across (compared to some of the RO's I've encountered in Worldshoot)

The stages were practical, offered a lot of shooting options and gave a good balance of DVC (speed, power and accuracy). The target distances were also more practical.

There were lots of cold water in each stage available to both shooters and ROs alike.

Will I be back next year? You bet.

  9. 15 Stephen Hinojales

He finished 15th at nationals and had one heck of a match. He was scored at minor too. Anyone know the story about his minor??

    Flyin

Stephen told me there was a mix up while loading. instead of using 123gr heads, they accidentally used 115 gr. I think he was 8th at last year's open nats.

  10. Yeah, I hear ammo might be a good thing to have. lol I am thinking about shipping it to the hotel, they do charge $10 for anything under 30 pounds but it might be worth it to save time on Friday. I will let you know for sure in the next few days though.

    Joe W

This is my first nationals and I ordered match ammo. The website says : " the ammo will be shipped directly to the match for distribution at the event".

do we pick up the ammo sept 11 during registration at the match hotel or do we pick them up at the range just before the start of the match?

You'll pick it up at the hotel during registration. There is a little paperwork and sampling involved.

    Troy

Thanks. see you guys at the nationals

  12. I ordered a benelli m2 practical and then found out that it only comes with a ported 28' barrel.

are there any non-ported non-ribbed 24 inch m2 barrels aside from the rifled slug barrels that i can use in limited/tactical division?

    thanks in advance

  13. Hi guys,

Would anyone happen to know the actual power factor of the 124gr 9mm match ammo by Precision Delta? I'd like to practice with a similar PF before I head out to the Nationals.

    Thanks in advance,

    Raul

  14. ....... While Phil's revived, I've got ideas on a new sport myself and for good bad, a little more PC using the NRA "tombstone" target.

It'd be nice to be able to air on ESPN, however, I'd say that VS would be a better shot.

    Rich

Would using the classic target allow the sport to be a little bit more PC?

  15. That may be true for shipping ammo, but you can't beat the US for buying ammo.

Anyone with a credit card can have ammo from one of the big manufacturers sent from one of dozens of mail order firms to the match, plus there is Atlanta Arms & Ammp, Precision Delta, Pony Express and other second tier ammo companies.

How many choices can you pick in Indonesia by going on-line or picking up the phone to arrange to have ammo wiating for you at the match?

Unfortunately, that is not exactly correct. Visitors to the US cannot legally purchase ammo.

    From the BATF FAQs:

(B5) Are there certain persons who cannot legally receive or possess firearms and/or ammunition? [back]

    Yes, a person who –

    (5) Is an alien illegally or unlawfully in the United States or an alien admitted to the United States under a nonimmigrant visa;

(R1) May nonimmigrant aliens legally in the United States purchase or possess firearms and ammunition while in the United States?

Nonimmigrant aliens generally are prohibited from possessing or receiving (purchasing) firearms and ammunition in the United States

In order for visitors who wish to shoot in the US to be able to bring firearms and purchase ammo in the US, you need to get an import permit from the BATF (ATF Form 6 NIA) AND a hunting license.
