  1. I have a large frame 38 super w/ comp..... (had it for years). got a large frame 9mm top end.... Using 38 super mags... HAS anyone ever got this combo to work? I see grams springs/follower are being used... Is the way to go?? I can see the nose dives even before I've put the mag inb the gun... ANY HOPE for a funchtioning gun?? Mike

  2. I'm at 1.18 to 1.20 with SV mags ... no problems, no spacers. (HS-6 also). NOTE: My "barrel" is throated!!, you MUST have at least .003 clearence / LOT's of pressure. I'd say my biggest problem is keeping track of the brass...., (I get all kinds of brass back, lot's of it is not mine... STAY away from S&B brass... (does't matter if it's brass plated or real brass..., pitch it).

  3. Anyone shooting the new Winchester AtuoComp powder in 9mm major??? Talked to one of those 38 Super guys and he thought it was too "sharp"?? Any reports either way? I'm a HS-6 user, but bought 8# of the AutoComp. I'm happy with HS-6, but we are ALWAYS looking for the "perfect load"????

  4. Get the Dremel out.... Grind a small part of the TOP right side of the Serindipity off, leaving the 3 screws BUT removing the 1st hole of the three, you will then have the basicly same set up as the left side only mount. I could n't get the gun to be consistant till then. You can easily do this mod ON the gun without removing anything but the slide. Works for me!

  5. Me too!.... Can't have to many guns. Still tinkering. I bought a "old" Para-16 in good condition for little $$$'s. Have a 9mm complete top end, and a single stack Para 1911. I can get reasonible accurcy simply by switching top ends from gun to gun. Did buy the Clark match barrels. Got the Dremil out releaved the trigger guard, some Fiber sights and I'm a happy camper! The mags are not a whole lot of money either. Can't say I'm real happy with the set-up in 9mm yet???.... but I'll figure it out.

  6. I load to 1.200, 8.6 HS-6 x 124MG rn or steel MG121 @8.6, Didn't believe the groups w/ 121. Just super accurate! Try the Lee "U" die in the 1st. stage (EGW)(ALSO makes a neat 4in1 case guage).... The only draw back???? with 9mm is I didn't like the thrown powder with my 650.... so... I sold it ... Back to the 550's (have 3). I usually come home with more brass than I started with ... get a easy 5/7 reloads before the primer pocket feels loose... I would not recomend 7625 in 9mm.. had 2 case seperations, who knows what the problem was & and why find out!! I ran out of my 5 year supply of WAP/SILLOUTTE, I don't see Hs-6 as that dirty... BUT the VIT powders are really clean... Tried n350/3n38, nice but I'm a working man. Use Win. small rifle primers cause I have AR 15's.

  7. This is interesting...long before thr modular frames came out I tried a 38 Super Para ..never could get the thing near 100% running,... always, figured it was the mags (got the rattle can effect, like you at 26/29 rounds). Not one to give up after 15 or so years????, I just started to build a Para in 9mm for steel... See the same thing happining.. Have the Dawson pads/w/the Purple extender. I run a long 9mm out to 1.200 (no spacers) Can see it's a timing issue... I think it always was but we didn't have the mag tuners out there like today.... Does seem like that Todd guy ever had all those problems, so they can work??.... my $.02

  8. Anyone shoot an open sub gun? Looking for someone who has any actual knowledge of the M-11 StoneyCreek/Soumi mag conversions before I spend a bunch of $$$$.

WOW, not a kind word!!, got lot's of replys from another site... I'll keep my $$$$. Yes, I have a C-More, 50 round mags , several 71 round drums... Even have a holster that covers the trigger guard? I could BE a GM if I didn't miss so much, so fast? (I'm working on missing EVEN faster!!, this should do IT!!)) I think the 50 round mags will fit the guage?, the drum isn't that big?? a little work needed...., ain't it fun???

All I wanted was a little info on a vendor...I know full-auto is a no,no in USPSA, good Lord we would have 300 round stages that are 8 round friendly, and where would we get all that tape! Guess humor is forbiden here??? I got all the info I need, so a moderator can delete this post and you guys can sleep tight tonite! NOT to get anyone's interest peaked but the 50 round Soumi "Coffin"mag is a quad stack and it is 9mm..... will it fit the guage?(I won't tell) + they only run about $50.00.

  10. Buy the "u" die if you don't have it(EGW), just makes a good thing better..... Then stand across the room and toss you reloads into the guage (may want to purchase the EGW 4in1 guage at the same time?)... got one for every thing I shoot.....life becomes more wonderful!!!! Own 3ea. 550's one is a converted 450. Super Senior Shooter.... had one of the 1st. 650's ...sold it.... maybe I should buy another 550???????

  11. Got mine in 1993... works fine. I need to shade the unit when using in the sun (I just stand a USPSA target along the "sun" side), end of problem. Also got in the habit of covering the TOP of the sensors with scotch tape when not in use. (Keeps out dust, use a cotton swab w/windex to clean if necc.)

  12. Well, I bought 3 from SPS years ago and have never got them to run. At the time they were supposed to work in both STI/SV and Para... They are sloppy, sit too low in the STI and arn't worth me fiddling with.... can't see wasting any more $$$$ on them. I'll stick with my SV's for 9mm major, they work right out of the box!!!!

  13. Don't forget the Para's... the ramped barrel is a must for consistancy in my mind for any competiton gun... I've got a single stack and a high cap.... 3 different uppers, 9mm, 40 S&W, and 45 plus the mags for all...with a little frame/slide work, I have my choise of what I want to shoot. Accuracy is good (Clark match barrels). (side note... Have'nt found any real differences in performance between the "Colt" Met-Craft/or Springfield mags in 9mm single stack ..BUT the Met-Crafts are a lot less expensive). Another way too go???

  14. I shoot open mostly. Just picked up a nice older Para in 40 S&W at a good price with the thought of shooting Limited. I've read all I can about the Para mags on this site?.... still have questions. I have 2 ea. SPS 19 round 40 mags, 6 ea. 16 round real 40 Para mags w/ Arridondo + extentions and 2ea. 15 round 40 Megar mags. After about inserting 10 rounds, the Para mags "swell" and are not drop free. (When empty all mags are drop free). Is there some secret Para info I don't have... One more item.. I tried a Dawson magwell and no matter what I did to the base of the Arridondo extentions lock up was difficult too the point that little was left on the top of the extention ( for retention to the base of the steel Para mag). Is this common?Does the S&A Para magwell have more room to let this happen? I've done a match bushing, fit a bevertail, relieved the trigger guard, 17# hammer spring, sear & hammer replaced, reblued, tightened frame to slide lockup etc.

  15. Dispite the "stay away from 9mm", I think that's the way too go!!! I've sold all my 38 Super guns and have 2 ea. 9mm open guns..... would never go back! Buy SV mags even if you have a STI gun. Brass is usually FREE. I pitch the brass after 3 or 4 reloads. No MATTER which caliber you choose buy the "U" die from Lee or EGW. HS-6, 3N38, N350 + more are good for loading to 9mm major. I do load "long" (1.200") and have found certain bullet profiles allow this (most RNose) without chamber / bore interfernce. The BIGGEST problem that I have seen with either caliber, is the ejection of the spent case.....lot's of other things cause open gun "stovepipes", but the way the EJECTOR hit is tossing the case is the #1 problem I have noticed. MAKE sure your gun's ejector is tuned so that the cases are leaving "flat", not banging on the scope mount.... You WILL be a Happy Camper with 9MM!!!

  16. As much as I miss... I would like to see about a 40 round magazine... I could shoot faster and miss more, (this mag would ONLY be for 9mm) ... So, you guys could still wonder about the 9mm ADVANTAGE when it come to brass. ( Someone GAVE me 5 gallons of once fired brass for Christmas) Happy New Year!!!
