Greetings, new member here from Washington State. I have been lurking off and on for a few months now as I do researching on acquiring my first 2011. I appreciate the wealth of info on here and am hoping to learn more. My experience with firearms entails ARs, PCC, shotguns, Glocks, and a 22 pistol.

Welcome N-A-A!  Some day you'll admit it :-)~

If that’s the case then why do many companies and people recommend using the distance of your ejected brass to help determine if you’re using the correct recoil spring?

Im not arguing against it, just trying to learn

I'm thinking that the ejection distance is an easy to assess "indication or inference" of the actual important things - proper timing and reliability of cycling.

Hello.  I'm always interested in what can be done and what's new.  May have guessed, or not,...anyways my screen name is short for Franken9, my AR9.  My first ever build, completed on an AR15 platform using Endomags, and it's made up of parts pieces from about 15 or so different manufacturers hence the name.  I bugged a lot of tech people from a lot of companies with a lot of questions to get it done and it works better than I hoped it would.  I use the CMMG 22lr converter in an AR15 and it got me thinking, as similar as 9 and 38 ammo is, could I figure out an easy way to also use some of the 38 ammo reliably.

If anyone has info, thoughts, or advice I'm all ears....even if it's just to point me in some direction or tell me it's been tried and failed.  I've looked around for info on the topic and haven't found much, so coming to a PCC forum seemed like then next best step.  Thanks, 🌭N9

Late to reply here, hope you get a notification.  First, I though your name was for freakin' 9! 😉  When I was doing my 9mm PCC build I didn't come across anyone making a .38 super barrel in SBR or carbine length.  You may get a a barrel maker interested in making one for you, for a few pretty pennies.  Good luck!

I've seen the factory buffer chewed up in less than 200 rounds (in a 9mm) or still be good after several thousand (40 s&w).

The buffers in mine are still intact after 1000+ rounds - both 9mm.  Shooting everything from 115 to 150 and +P.  I've heard very few verifiable reports of wickedly premature failure, but sh** happens!

the rack is smooth but very tight…the TSO comes with 3 mags and it happens with each of them

Hard to say, then, other than try to run some heavier loads or any +P ammo that you have to really push the slide.  Or at least a different brand of ammo.  Sorry, I'm not really much help on this one through the keyboard!

I’m shooting Maxxtech 115g ammo, which powerful ammo would you suggest? Yes I cleaned and lubed my CZ according to CZ’s instructions, using shooters lube.  It is so tight, so I’m sure the more I shoot the looser it will get. Right now I will get one round stuck between the factory mag and the barrel, ( it varies, could be the second shot or the 15th shot ) so I have to hit the mag release button…drop the mag and hand cycle the slide to get the cartridge to come out. Then reinsert the mag and it cycles properly for the remainder of the 20 rd mag. In no way am I limp wristing it, just a little disappointed that this is happening on a $2,000 dollar handgun. When it does shoot properly it is by far the most accurate handgun I’ve ever shot.

Shouldn't be any issue with any ammo, but I've not shot Maxxtech.  Can you get your hands on some 124 or 147 gr?  You can check the buffer but it, most likely, is not chewed up yet.  It should be good for a few thousand rounds, and the need for it is debated all over the place, but it is recommended by CZ.

How does the slide feel when you rack it without a mag?  If smooth and easy, is there any chance you are having a mag issue?  Still puzzled here because I've never even heard of a TSO that hasn't been modded not running right.  You can toss this out to the issues forum and see what others have to say.

    Hi,

I really like the CZ's I've looked so far and I'd love to buy one. But... I'm so confused! Orange, Blue, Black and Blue, Shadow. Shadow 2, TS, etc.

Please educate me on these CZ's.

    Thanks!

OK OK gang!  Easy now, we are all here for the common good so let's try to be supportive.

If you want a competition gun consider one of the Shadows - and why not get the best, the 2 Orange or a Cajun or a CZ-USA Custom.  If you want a really fun, really accurate gun to challenge your target capabilities consider the Tac Sport Orange.  I couldn't decide, and now I have both a S2O and a TSO.  🙂

So far I have been impressed although I have had a couple of FTF, it’s not stovepiping but it won’t load the next round. Maybe it just needs to be broken in. But it is by far the most accurate gun I’ve ever shot and I love the *thumb rest [generic]*, it really helps with recoil. Thx for your post…

Hey Butch, welcome!  I love my TSO and I haven't had any issues.  I've shot everything from 115 gr. reloads to 150 gr. Action Pistol that has absurdly low velocity and never failed to cycle properly.  What were you shooting?  These Orange models are hand fit so maybe it's a little tight.  I'm sure you cleaned it up good and put on fresh lube of choice.  Throw some heavy weight rounds at it and see if it loosens up.  Let us know!

  9. Thanks George!  We're about an hour due north of the Detroit city limits.  Not a native so I get a kick out of the UM vs. MSU rivalries... and then there's the thing with the arch-enemy "The Ohio State".  Makes for some good parties, that's for sure.

  10. Hello to all!  Now that the weather is warming up here we are out and shooting.  I've "messed with" firearms since I was a kid on the farm shooting woodchucks and hunting.  I've only gotten into handguns and target rifle shooting in the last few years.  I like to shoot steel and do the Steel Challenge when and where it's available in the area.

I run a CZ TS Orange and a Shadow 2 Orange, and am breaking in a Sig P320 X5 Max.  Because ammo is crazy $ these days we picked up some .22LR guns and they have been a blast.  The cheap Taurus TX22 my wife got is awesome and so much fun I got a TX22 Competition and threw a red dot on it.  It's a great shooter, too!

We are fortunate to live in the country so we were able to put together a little range in the back yard.  11 acres of our own with a 50 acre field behind gives plenty of room.  We'd love to have people over for a little fun if you'd like to sometime.

@jt1207  You should also check out the Howell Gun Club.  Really nice facilities and the people are, as you would expect, really nice and helpful.  They also run different competitions like Steel Challenge.  Welcome to MI!  Are you here because of the university or ...?
