  1. I was confused to read that SSP can use 15-rounds in the mags, but ESP and CO only 10 rounds. I have no idea why that is. Most stages will use more than 15 rounds, so it's one reload anyway, just a bit later in the game. Anybody here cares to guess the logic behind this?

  2. I have quite a few revolvers and pistols, shoot a Sig P230 X5 Legion in competition, but never owned or shot a H&K. Then, a few weeks ago, this 2020 date-coded H&K USP 45 showed, up, pretty in the box, presumably never been shot and quite affordable (I live in California), so I bought it.

I have not shot it yet, but played with it a bit with snap caps. When the slide is all the way back, the slide release engaged, I cannot get it to release by just *trying* to pull the lever down with my thumb. I have to do both at the same time, pull the slide all the way back and engage the slide release lever, in order for the slide to be released. The lever alone won't move without me pulling the slide back. I find that strange and wonder if that's an H&K thing or something that has to do with the fact that the gun is new and super tight.

    Thank you.

  3. G' Day!

I have Kydex holsters for every gun I own, but when it comes to revolvers, I just can't help liking wood stocks and leather holsters, for reasons beyond my control. I even switched back to leather on my EDC J-frames despite the fact that they are thicker than Kydex and heavier as well. Now I'm having a hard time to find a leather holster for my S&W 625-8 that I use in IDPA competition. The CompTac holster I'm using is a great choice, but it ain't leather. The holster should be suitable for IDPA, meaning no retention strap, straight up draw, etc. Seems like the choices for these 4-inch N-frames are extremely limited.

    Any suggestions?

  4. I wear comfy pants, bought for $15-or-so at Ross where I by many of my clothes because I'm somewhat of a frugal chap.

    I wear a T-shirt tucked in; when it's cold a thicker one.

I wear a Hanks Extreme leather belt; similar to the Hanks leather belt I wear daily for carrying. It's guaranteed to last 100 years. Best money I ever spent on a belt.

I wear Timberland hiking shoes, also bought at Ross for about $19.

  5. Hi Ya'll!
I shoot IDPA SSP with a 3rd gen. G34. I'd love to get my hands on a Gen 5 but even if I found one here in California, it be around $2,000 easily, plus two potentially long road trips to do the transfer paperwork. What intrigues me about the 5th gen. G34 is the "Marksman" barrel it comes stock with. Do you think this barrel alone allows for tighter, more precise groups, and, if so, would purchasing an aftermarket barrel make sense for that same reason?
