  1. If you are set/stuck with a k sized footprint. There’s really no reason not to get the EPS (either variant). I wouldn’t necessarily run out to replace every 507/407k I had, but I wouldn’t buy a new one. The enclosed nature of the sight honestly to me doesn’t matter for the rain as much as it does the ability to keep stuff out of the optic itself and clean your glass when needed.

  2. I tried out the comp the other weekend at a match where a guy had one on his glock. We compared it to my SRO in the Florida sun - honestly no real difference in brightness to my eyes. I have found that the 5 Moa sro dots look the best to me - not saying the 2 Moa dot isn’t useable for the holosun but I don’t see a reason to switch. If they come out with a dot only version cheaper, with say a 6 Moa dot I think it would be a no brainer

  3. I compete with a gen 3 Glock 17 and sro, and I carry a gen 3 Glock 17 and sro. Identical set ups, my carry gun is lower round count and not used for practice sessions, but serves as a match back up gun. I have a 19/Rmr combo at home, but that’s really more for my wife than me. The only thing I may change in the future is carrying with an aimpoint acro or Steiner MPS. I snagged a brownells acro slide and had my original Glock slide with internals sitting around to throw into it.  I love the SRO but it collects a bunch of dust and dirt in the window

  4. If possible I prefer my optic as far back as possible. I’m also a fan of irons forward (if you find them necessary) for a few reasons. That being said, I have slides that are cut really low (zev duty slide for example) and when paired with an SRO, the glass get pretty dirty after a relatively low round count session (2-300 rounds). Nothing a cheap lens pen can’t fix but I’ve noticed that if my optic is further back I don’t have to clean it nearly as frequently. tracking the dot makes no difference in either position in my experience.

One more note: Given the slide difference I wondered if these were sprung differently.  Mine shipped with an 11# recoil spring (not the 9# earlier reported in other threads), so they've changed the spring weight, too.

How could you tell which spring weight it shipped with? If they changed it that would be interesting but haven’t seen anything on that

  6. I honestly only sold my 1 Moa version because I like the 5 Moa better. I got the 1 Moa at a good price but it just wasn’t my favorite. The 5 Moa dot is cleaner in my opinion and it doesn’t bloom. But trying to find 5 Moa in stock anywhere is crazy

  7. I shoot my gen 3 17 /sro for CO and carry the same. I’ll occasionally swap in my 19/Rmr. I may swap to a gen 5 17 or 19 with EPS to give closed emitters a long term shot but I’ll need a thousand or so rounds through the set up first.

Agreed. If I end up sticking with the FS trigger in the end the reason is going to the be short pre travel compared to stock.

I mean you see Walther doing it with their dynamic performance trigger and those are night and day compared to factory. For this being the top competitor model, it would be great to see a similar Canik version

My steel frame  is at Canik as well for same issues.  Im not sure I expect them to do anything different. I will report when I get it back.  My Freind has a chrome and a black.  Only the chrome runs reliably.  I have a black. I think there might be a thin layer of coating on black making the chamber tighter.  Not sure

I’d be curious if all the issues are with the black versions, that’s the one I’ve got

  10. They do include three grip sizes. Not sure the one the owner had on, but even so I haven’t had an issue with thumb placement. I also don’t really use the memory pad for my support thumb though either.

Same issues. Have been experimenting with different recoil springs and mags/guts. I'm probably around 1500 rounds. Will report back if/when I find a setting I think is 100%

I was able to narrow it and look at the relation of the magazine and the slide lock. For me, it’s not an issue of the RSA or weight, it’s the slight gap from where the baseplate reaches the bottom of the magwell that allows it to be inserted just enough to cause an issue. I pulled the magazine just slightly back out and the slide went forward. That tells me either it’s either the magazine or the gun- but I’m leaning towards the gun if other people are experiencing it.

I had the same super annoying issue with the grips. Only the small lined up. The Large had 2/4 line up, the Medium none. Is Canik sending you more? I've been trying different recoil spring and mag setups to try to get it to feed 100%. I ended up getting a plastic after the Rival-S and it has been much easier to get consistent feeding.

Also, I threw in a 15# spring and it’s been great so far. The gun tracks pretty reliably as long as I do my part. Shooting 124 factory loads- I think it’s belom?

Yeah they are sending me more, that apparently are coming from Turkey. I need to inquire about the actual grips themselves because they are only getting me screws at the moment.

Seriously? No one is willing to take the time to see if there's a potential problem with this gun?

Century Arms seems to be as enthusiastic about solving the problem too.

I have also replicated the problem with an EMPTY magazine.

I have the same issues. It seemed to resolve itself after 1000 rounds. To me it seems like the magazines are able to over insert and push against the slide stop.

I don’t know if it’s fully resolved, but I had no issues as I approached 1000 rounds today on the range. I had lots of intermittent issues in the first 500.

  15. Just putting my .02 in. Whoever designed the grip panels on the S needs to be fired. The only holes that aligned out the box was the small grip. When I tried to put the medium on I couldn’t get the threads to align and ended up only getting it partially in.  Lost two screws on the first range session. Canik tells me it’s unknown how long it will take to get them in because they have to clear customs.

also, I noticed that when using the stock magazines without the magwell, I could overinsert the magazine to the point where the slide would not release forward. It took about 1000 rounds and several manual cycles of the slide to get it not lock to the rear randomly.

it does track really well and the weight certainly makes it easy for consistent accuracy. But there’s a lot of take up in the trigger, so I suppose I’ll look at the freedomsmith to fix that.

overall I’m mixed on how I feel about the gun and my ability to perform with it. I wanted to love it, just not there yet.
