that's discouraging.  I was really hoping for good things with the eflx.  since i have DPP mounts on everything i own.  ill stick to the best optic, The DPP!

DPP was my favorite RDS but I lost my confidence in it when the tape holding battery contact melted on the hot match day and the battery contact slid off the PCB mid stage. I was hoping that they improve the battery contact design when they release the 6MOA version but they didn't so I moved away from DPP.

  2. I have a Angstadt Arms UDP-9 with a heavy, long and gritty mil-spec trigger which was immediately replaced with a Hiperfire Eclipse. I can always induce doubling/bursting whenever I try to shoot fast by not pulling the trigger deliberately all the way through. By deliberately pulling the trigger and holding it before letting it off for a reset, it will not cause doubling/bursting. No hammer follow during dry fire.

After some research I found out that some safety selectors are not compatible with Hiperfire triggers but mostly due to the cut away for some non-90 degree throw. I had a Geissele 90 Posi-snap Ambi Safety Selector installed which is not in the compatibility issue list.

Then I found Hiperswitch that Hiperfire advertised to be compatible with all of their triggers so I gave it a try. 0 doubling/bursting for 150 rounds straight but I don't like the 60 degree throw and grittiness of the throw. I noticed that the trigger reset and trigger over-travel when Hiperswitch installed is very slightly longer than Geissele Posi-Snap. I have yet to measure the depth of the cut away in safety selector barrel of the Hiperswitch but the Posi-snap measures around 5.97mm, the original mil-spec safety selector measures 5.85mm.

My theory is that the depth of the cut away in safety selector barrel of the Posi-Snap (that allows the trigger to rotate when pulled) is not deep enough so the engagement of disconnector and hammer hook is less than ideal or no engagement when shooting fast (not pulling the trigger deliberately) but safety selector barrel of Hiperswitch does. This combines with violent BCG movement = doubling/bursting.

I really want to go back to the Posi-Snap as I like the way the throw feels but the bursting is a no-no for me. Is it a good idea to file the cut away of the safety selector barrel to allow for a little more trigger over-travel?

    My current setup are
    - UDP-9
    - JP BCG with SCS (Full-stroke enhanced version)
    - Hiperswitch Safety Selector

    - Hiperfire Eclipse with Red toggle spring (3.5lbs trigger)

I'm relatively new to the PCC/AR world. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

  3. I got an used one from eBay a month ago. The dot is huge. Much bigger than the Cmore railway 6MOA. The dot appears to be orange-ish rather than red. I have it on my VR80. I haven't tried it at the range yet but I reckon it will be good.

Another choice you can look at is Holoson HS407CO X2. It has 8MOA circle.

  4. I have a polymer body with std switch on my VR80 (MK-12 to be exact). One thing I don't like about the switch is the brightness adjustment. It slowly get brighter during the first 3/4 of the way then goes from like 50% to 100% with tiny degree of turn towards the end. Not sure about click switch.

After using it for a few months in shotgun IPSC training, I wish I had gone with a more sturdy design one (in fact I have a DPP on the way) so I don't have to be so cautious about anything "banging" the railway and break it. Gotta say that glass quality of the railway is hard to beat. Super clear, very very little tinting, zero distortion (true 1x).

  5. Hi all, amateur IPSC shooter here. I own a Remington Versamax Competition Tactical for about half a year now. It's my first competition shotgun but I had some experience shooting sporting clay for a couple of years with my O/U shotgun. I've have had fairly good result with my VMCT. I won 2 local L2 IPSC matches. However, I screwed up the slug stage in the very first match as I kept missing the clay target until I ran out of slugs on my belt so I had to stop. Later I discovered that my VMCT shoots slug 3" high and 3" right at about 20 yards.

I also let other shooters that I shoot with to try shooting slugs with my VMCT. Their result is the same, about 3" high and 3" to the right so gun mounting is likely not the cause. Shots taken from a rest and off-hand produced the same POI. Luckily VMCT has a rear sight and it's movable.

Here's the photo before the fix.

To fix the POI being high, I filed the rear sight forming a groove in the center. This brings the front sight down hence the POI also down.

    It looks something like this.

To fix the POI being to the right, I moved the rear sight to the left bringing the front sight to the left hence the POI.

Now the rear sight is sticking out too much on the left side so I filed it down. Here's the final looks.

By doing this, it brought the POI very close to POA. Maybe still 0.5" or 1" to the right at 20 yards but it's as far as this rear sight can go without being too awkward and it's acceptable for me at this point. Otherwise I need to make a groove off the left side instead of center with the new rear sight.

Here's the YT VDO of me shooting slug stage in the recent local IPSC match before the fix. POA was held at 3" 7:30 o'clock of clay target. I was able to hit the clay target in a single shot twice.

    Stage Result

    Points: 66/70

    Time: 21.61s

    Hit Factor: 3.05

    Stage points: 48.9579

    Stage overall percent: 69.94%

    Stage score overall rank: #4

Maybe my solution was not the best but it did help reduced POI issue I had. Suggestions are welcome.

    Thanks.

    There you go.

Thread is the same Accu-choke system as 930 & 500.
Same extensions that fit 930 will fit 940. Nordic is one example.

    Thanks for sharing!

I think  as a budget/first  3 gun  its a great choice.  If I did not have a MOA M3K  would have no problem ruining this.  would need some time to get use to the safety on top.

I own Versa Max Comp Tac. And yet I like the 940 a lot. Could be my 2nd Shotgun for IPSC. lol.

  7. 940 really got my attention when they launched it.

We had both.  I not sure on the camo availability.  But the gold is available now.  I will call and ask him.

The 940 really got my attention when they launched it. Can't help to doubt a few things.

    - What's the choke threading system? They just say that it's Briley extended choke.

    - Mag extension options? It would be nice to have 12 rounds mag tube.

I am using the Gemini's and am rather new to the load 2 and load 4's.  If your positive about what shells you practice with are the same ones that you shoot a match with, then it shouldn't be a problem.  They have a tension adjustment so due to small changes between brands and versions it might increase or decrease tension, which will cause issues on match day if you switch things up.  Other than that they work pretty good to me, recently ordered the chest harness to save on belt real estate. (Using the 12x and 16x.). All aluminum and steel except the backer plate that they mount to is the polymer, so should last forever.

    Thanks for the input.

By the way, which chest harness you ordered?

  9. I'm just getting into Shotgun IPSC. Shooters in my local range use and recommend shotshell carrier from King Competition but I find it expensive. Probably too expensive for a beginner.

Then I came across the Taccom Project Gemini. The main difference is that Taccom Gemini does not have magnets and it's a lot cheaper than King Competition.

I figured it's been released relatively recently as there's no youtube VDO about it.

Here's the link to Taccom Project Gemini. https://taccom3g.com/product/project-gemini-16up-shotgun-caddy/

Would you recommend the Taccom Gemini for a beginner? Would Sport series be a better choice for a beginner?
