  1. This has the smell of managing director and head of media relations if I was to guess. The only people with the power to do such. An attorney has already sent a letter asking for the trademark to be rejected due to its common use. This is kinda paraphrased so dont flame on exact wording.

You can reload in the open, but if there is a target around the corner behind a wall but the wall doesn't have a fault line you can't leave cover with a empty gun or do anything but a slide lock reload in the open. So you just step out of cover round dump to empty as you advance in the open and reload from slide lock.

Is the wall solid and not see through? Or even if you cant see through it shoot it a few times and people stop playing games fast. Walls shouldn't be used as vision barriers. Vision barriers can get shot. Barrels are a better option.

6.5.27.1 Vision barriers are soft cover objects such as barrels, tents, fake trees, sheer curtains, etc., that are used to block or occlude the view of a target or group of targets. 6.5.27.2 Vision barriers are soft cover and may not be impenetrable or designated as hard cover.

4.7.1 Stage props are commonly used to represent hard cover or impenetrable objects such as walls, cars, barricades, and furniture such as desks and file cabinets. Truly impenetrable objects may also be used as hard cover in a stage

  3. You can do Tac reloads at will with a caveat or two. You cant tac reload while exposed to unengaged targets .Unless there is no cover anywhere on the stage then reloading and topping off is allowed. So a tac reload is allowed in that instance at any time. Where you can get bit is running empty behind a fault line then stepping out and exposing yourself to surprise or in the open targets, even if not technically visible until you move further through the stage. If they are hidden behind vision barriers you are still considered exposed. The stage description cannot dictate the type of reload period. As long as all reloads are done in accordance with IDPA rules you are good to go. If I missed anything Im sure someone will chime in.

  4. Tonight's board was the most positive step forward I have seen in awhile. Area 2 finally kept quite with the nonsensical garbage usually put out there. Reinstating 7 was only right. A year on the board and magically donna found out he didn't have continuous membership by 5 days but was totally cool with Mel not having an RO and allowing him to get it was a bad look. Maybe this is the slow turn around. Can someone confirm did they not fill the open seat with a temp for area3? Scotts? Looks like some new rules coming also effecting what hammer down for production is IE half cocked, thigh straps, and removal of gun belt with holstered gun being allowed. Those were the bigger ones I thought.

  5. You can go on facebook to the area pages except if you are area 1. The post was closed by admin after one comment. Two of the admins there happen to be board members of USPSA. Well one is again since he stepped down but now wants to be involved again. Confusing or planned hard to say.

I wanted to confirm that the magazine release that comes with a CZ Shadow 1 orange was legal in ESP before going to an IDPA major with it. So I read through the rules & then contacted the AC like you are supposed to. This is the answer I got:

"As a group, ACs/SCs/IPOCs have stopped writing “Get out of jail free” cards like you requested because it backfired one too many times. Especially when doing this kind of review virtually during Covid."

I found it humorous. I think the secret to enjoying IDPA is not to take it very seriously, but I feel a little bit that way about USPSA sometimes.

It only becomes serious when you have spent your money and time traveling and get told you are shooting for no-score because suddenly today the gun magically isnt legal because its a different AC.

  7. IDPA is the most inconsistent sport when it comes to rules. With the BS at worlds to every sanctioned match. Letting JJ muzzle himself one year and file down a safety to fit in the box. I guarantee you that depending on what match you shoot you can get DQed for the grip safety. The AC's don't even talk to each other about the rules that get questioned. Having a letter from one doesn't mean jack to the AC who just upheld the DQ for pin grip safety. Its the top of this pyramid that is defunct. Refusal to fix anything in the rules and make them clear and concise with mysterious rulings across the country that only apply to that days match. Its a joke.

  8. The only thing I see is its close on weight. Might be over with a mag depending on which weight you go by from websites. But Lighten it up a bit with grips and be prepared to get it milled internally if you have to. The barrel isnt a problem. It may be a cone but that applies to CDP only. Alternatively a CZ sp-o1 or a shadow 2 with some milling also makes weight.

You may disagree, but it was a a DQ in USPSA before 5.2.1.2 was added, so in my sometime-SCSA RM opinion, it's a DQ in SCSA as well.

It needs to be clarified because some people don't like it, but that's how NROI has treated it for decades.  We had all the arguments 25 years ago.

The other reading of the rules leads to the result that it would be legal to throw a ziploc bag over your pistol, detach the holster with the pistol still in it and run around getting a sight picture on everything on the range because you "aren't touching it" and "it's still in the holster".

Well Troy disagrees with you also. This is about steel challenge not any other sport.

  10. Well from the sounds of things it was applied however they wanted too. Sometimes they were loading devices other times ammunition. Kinda like a gun not fitting in the box and fitting in the box all at the same time. They took the loose rounds out of the rule book. Why? Did they think the rules stated addressed it? you might be better off asking in one of the facebook forums.

  11. Rule 3.4.6 talks about ammo being left behind. In the past the rule book said loose rounds would incur a PE. People would try to give PE's to a semi auto shooter for racking the slide and ejecting a round. I believe that rule pertained to Revo shooters. 3.4.6 Shooters may not perform a reload which results in a loading device with ammo being left behind. This is commonly known as a “speed reload”, and will result in a Procedural Error penalty being issued. This to me means you reload with a revo that has any number of unfired rounds and you drop them on the ground you get a PE. The exception being you pulled the trigger and they didn't go bang. Now I know you are going to say they are not loading devices and the rules use that word but as you should also know this rule book is a s#!te show. However applying the rules equally to all divisions would seam the most intelligent move but IDPA. It wouldn't hurt to take some of that profit IDPA has and put it into a little technical writing of the rule book. Make it clear and concise.

  12. 8.6.1 General Ammunition Carrier Rules. 8.6.1.1 Instead of using ammunition carriers, shooters may carry spare loading devices in their pockets or belt. Shooters may mix carry methods but they must be concealed from view at the start signal. 8.6.1.2 Ammunition carriers may be modified to meet IDPA rules. 8.6.1.3 Magnets worn on belts or in concealment garments may not substitute traditional carriers. 8.6.1.4 Spare ammunition is considered stowed when it is secured in an approved carrier, or a pocket. After the start signal, magazines optionally may be stowed inside the belt. Spare or partial devices are not considered stowed in a shooters hand, armpit, mouth or similar scheme.

Literally it says after the start signal you can not have mags in your hand because they are not considered stowed! How more obvious can it be.

  13. mattee 8.6.1.4 is under ammunition carrier rules. Mags can only be stowed in two places. Carriers or in pockets. Unless you don't have carriers at all but im not addressing that. After the start signal they can optionally be stowed inside the belt. They are not considered stowed in your hand, armpit, mouth or similar scheme therefore you are violating 8..6.1.4. and breaking a rule. 5.1.1.2 states if you break a rule Thats a PE if you shoot.  A mag that is dropped also isn't in compliance with the rule but there is a rule that addresses that specifically allowing you to pick it up penalty free before last shot.

  14. 8.6.1.4 Spare ammunition is considered stowed when it is secured in an approved carrier, or a pocket. After the start signal, magazines optionally may be stowed inside the belt. Spare or partial devices are not considered stowed in a shooters hand, armpit, mouth or similar scheme.

As for 2.2.4.5 any MD that DQ's a shooter who purposefully aims at a target and shoots it with a mag in hand is a clown. By their definition if I withdraw a mag and drop it then decide to shoot the remaining rounds out of my gun they would DQ me. After all I withdrew a mag which according to them is a starting a reload. That is asinine. It is being applied 100% incorrectly. It should be used for when you are actively attempting a reload and send a round because your finger is on the trigger. The gun is no longer being aimed at a target. Nothing is unsafe about aiming at a target and sending a round after you removed the mag period.
