  1. I’ve found that the blue bullets shoot pretty well, but I stick to JHP or some type of CMJ now. The everglades 124g V2 jhp shoot great. Rocky Mountain reloading sellls plated 124s for $158 that are rated up to 1400 Fps and they shoot well too. Even Berry’s plated 124s shot pretty well even though they aren’t rated for major velocities. My trubor barrel did not like Montana gold 115gs for some reason. Btw  this is with 7.8-8g HS-6.

works 99.9% with win spp for me...I just use it without the locking tip that comes with it.  when i was using the tip, that's when i got problems.

You mean the black piece that locks in? How does it work without it? You just hold it in? I’m wondering because I thought you had to use that. And I only have one tube, but I have 4 regular Dillion tubes. And I liked to fill up multiple tubes before I start loading. But I thought I couldn’t do that since I only had only the one tube that cane with it. If that makes sense. I’d like to be able to fill up all 5 at once.

I can't wait to see mine in the next few days. It will have a KKM hybrid barrel.

Ya that’s gonna be sweet. You gotta post pics when it’s done. I wish I would have done a hybrid with mine.

Infinity is pretty expensive but some other small custom builders often charge more. I know of builders who fit the grip to your hand, spend time at the range with you to gauge features you may or may not need, need an ample supply of the ammo you plan to run in the gun so they can test as they go, and can do any specialized milling to the gun you could possibly desire, etc. In other words, true custom build. That can cost on par or slightly more than an Infinity

Damn, that’s really cool. If I ever get rich I’d like a gun and build experience like that.

Trying a hybrid, short binary, aggressive cheely. See if I love the hybrid better, if I do my current blaster will go to a back up

Nice. I really want to try a hybrid too. My next build Will definitely be either a 5 or 5.4. Inch hybrid, preferably KKM, with a pt evo grip, long dust cover. I can’t be thinking about another build yet though. I’ve only put 2000rds though this one. My gun just runs and runs. Don does a really phenomenal job.

I have this set up for 40 and I can get 21 reloadable. You’ll just want to make sure your slide stop is deactivated as mine wasn’t and it locked the slide back with 1-2 rounds left.

With the 7g2 and the ultra thin for 9mm mags I could get 26rds. Most of my 9mm have grams but I think when these get weak I’m gonna switch to all TTI internals. As long as they are as reliable as grams which they seem to be.

  7. I get 21 in my sti gen 2s with tti 4g2 basepads and either Tarans ultra thin follower, which leaves plenty of room to spare after the 21st round so you can easily lock it in the gun. But the feed lip dimensions on the 40 mags are so wide that I had issues wirh the follower popping out. So I bought a TTI regular universal follower and still get 21 and can still lock it in the gun for starts to start with 22rds. I can get 21 wirh grams guts but can’t lock it in the gun. The TTI regular follower is just a tiny bit thinner then grams allowing for 21rds.

I cant get 21 wirh my mbx 140s btw. But theye great mags. But none of my sti 40 mags needed any tuning with the body or feedlips. They’ve been 100% flawless. I’d stick with them for 40 Over mbx just cause they’re cheaper. For 9 the mbx are nice. As are the sti but mine needed some tweaking. Pretty easy to do though.

My frame showed up today! Waiting on a barrel and off my goodies goes!

You’re having another one built already? Lucky. What’s the build gonna be?

  9. I’ve been meaning to send Don back my barrel to have him drill 1 more port in the barrel, but I’ve been having a blast shooting it. We recently moved so I haven’t been shooting as much as I usually do. But I’ve put around 2000rds though it and the gun runs like a Swiss watch. Not a single gun related malfunction. Great shooter. Hope everyone else is enjoying dons masterpieces.

I ran into a problem using one of my MBX 155 mags at a match on Sat.  It started not feeding the first or second round in the mag.  I stopped using it.  When I got home I measured the feed lips.  They were .010" tighter than the other mags.  I opened them up and everything is good again.

I just ordered a third STI Gen 2 140.  The first two work great.  I'll use these three for Steel Challenge and save the MPX for USPSA.  I also plan to order one set of TTI base pads, spring and ultra-thin follower to see how they work.

The Gen 2 mags lock the slide back with no rounds left.  The only beef I had with the Gen 2 mags is they stick in the Uplula mag loader.  I Dremeled out the bridge on one of the loaders and now it works fine.

Both of my 170s are mbx. I figured mbx works, and it’s harder to get the 170s going so I might as well get mbx for those. And they work perfectly. But all my 140s are sti. TTI 7mm base pad with grams s&f. And at first they ran 100%. For the first 2 months or So. Then they started nose diving very infrequently. Say 3-5% of the time. But that’s still to much for me to rely on for matches.  So I’ve been thinking about getting a set of mbx 140s or 155s for matches since they work so well. And use the Stis for practice.

Then i found the atlas video you told me about and squeezed them in to the right specs and now they’re 100%. I just bought 2 more when they dropped the price and I’m leaving them stock. Getting that 2-3% nose dives again. Didn’t want to mess with them but I might have to squeeze them. But after squeezing the other ones idk if I’m gonna buy any MBX now. The mbx mags just work so well. They have those tube dimensions right. No gap between the first and second round like wirh the Sti mags. Idk. The sti mags are just such a bargain at 50 a piece.

Geez.  I paid $68 each for my Gen 2 140s.  I haven't done the Atlas squeeze on them yet, because they have been 100% reliable so far.

When I bought my first 5 they were 75 bucks a piece. They’re a really good deal now at 50. I just picked up 2 for 50 a piece and theyre actually different then my first 5. The first 5 I bought said just “9mm” on them, and nothing else. These new ones say “9/38”, and in a different font. The tubes look identical though. And seem to be dimensionally the same too. So idk maybe people thought they were only for 9mm, so they started stamping 9/38 so people knew they were for both.

  12. Actually, going with sti gen 2s plus basepads and springs and followers is considerably cheaper then mbx mags. Mbx mags are 130 for a 140mm. Or 50 for gen 2 mag, 30 for basepad and 20 for the guts. So 100 total, 30 bucks cheaper then mbx. Over a set of 10; it’s a considerable amount of money.

I really like the new sti mags a lot. Especially for 40, they just work great. But With 9 they sometimes need some tweaking. The double to single transition is a bit wide from the factory and it causes the rounds to stack wrong, and you get a big gap between the first and second round in the mag. And this causes rounds to nose dive. They come around .620-.630, and they need to be brought down to about .560-.570, one inch down the tube. It’s pretty simple to do. And after this they go from about 95% reliably, to 100%. But even then I still trust my mbx more. They have the dimensions right, and they stack up neatly and are just very reliable. So I practice with sti and shoot matches with mbx.

Not sure this would be the issue, but it's very standard practice to add a 45ACP case to the top of the primer push rod.  I did so about 150K rounds ago, but I can't recall if that was just 'cause everyone said it was a good idea or because I had an issue.

Ya mine came with the push rod and 45 case. So I’ve Been using it. I’m guessing the point is the keep some weight/pressure on the stack of primers so when they get low they still feed.

Take it apart there is a primer wegde in station.. It's happened to me before.

I was thinking one must be jammed. Thanks, I’ll dig into it tomorrow.

On anorher more, I thought these Dillion’s didn’t require much tinkering? I’m coming from a Lee iloadmaster, the press everyone says is a problem and I had that thing and the primer system running like a Swiss watch. I just wanted 7 stations and a real case feeder and bullet feeder so I got the 1050.

  15. Hey guys, I recently picked up a 1050 used and got it up and running a week ago or so. Since then I’ve run probably 500rds though it, and have gotten it pretty dialed in. Really loving it. Super smooth indexing, and man is it fast. It’s almosr effortless to operate. This morning I was about halfway through loading 100rds and all of a sudden it stopped priming, despite there still being 40-50 primers in there. The slide is working fine. I noticed that new primers were kinda trickling our behind the press. There was a pile of them there. I talked to the guy I bought it from since he has another one and is pretty experienced with them and he suggested I look at the blue tip at the bottom of the tube that holds the primers. I changed that out and it didn’t help.

So idk what’s going on. It ran fine for the first 50rds and then just stopped working. The slider moves back and forth but there’s no primer on it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks m

What he normally does if you buy his customize trigger option he talks to you in person and answers all you questions. He also listen to what you are looking for. Go to YouTube as well watch some of his videos.

He can get them to about 2.5lbs with a 4lb striker spring. But I was only able to get reliable ignition with federal primers. Going up to the 4.5lb you can light off harder primers, but the pull weight went up a bit. Back in those days anytime fed primers we’re in stock I’d buy 10k. Pain in the ass.

I have thought about one, but $280 worth of Glock trigger is hard to wrap my head around.

I went that route when I was shooting glocks. No matter what you spend they can never be very good. The Johnny  Glock trigger was a big upgrade to a stock gem 4 trigger. But if I ever go back to shooting glocks I’d do my own. With Various parts, and it will be 95% as good, at half the cost. But I can’t imagine I’ll ever go back to glocks for comp/range toys. You just can’t beat the 1911/2011 trigger. And It’s nice that with 2011s when you spend 150 on a trigger you get a 1lb crisp short perfect unbeatable trigger.

  18. I just got a 1050, and bought a vibraprime an man is this thing frustrating. I’m using win small pistol primers. Gonna try it with federal spp and see if those work better. If not then I’ll get some cci primers. It would work well for like 5 primers then one would get stuck and I have to take it apart. Spend 15 mins loading 100 primers with it and then 6 minutes actually loading the rounds. Ended up just going back picking them up with with the tube.
