@USPSA_Spiderman no offense, but I’d have stopped & DQd you - and I tend to be a very generous RO.

On *first* viewing without any slow motion, it *appears* that you nearly set the gun off into your own foot.

In very extensive retrospect, that probably isn’t the case. But the RO doesn’t have that information to go off of, and he made the right call - erring on the side of safety.

I’d hope any RO would issue a STOP! command in such a situation. The gun could be malfunctioning (they do occasionally do that, and fire when you do things like take a hammer-fired gun off safe) ... or the shooter made a huge mistake regarding trigger discipline.

    That’s my take. :)

I agreed that's why unloaded and showed clear before even being told to stop.

  2. Video explaining the AD or possible AD.  Seems that the guys over on INGO (https://www.ingunowners.com/forums/shooting-sports/465606-journey-2019-uspsa-nationals-5.html#post7894648) think that it was not an DQ offense.  Doesn't really matter to me I had an AD and felt I earned a DQ and the hot fudge sunday after the match :) .

Here is the video explaining the AD and how I will prevent it from happening again.

  3. Well finally made it to my first match of the year!

Also managed to earn my very first DQ trip. Link to the video below. Video description has the details of what happened. Keep in mind that there is no such thing as losing just winning and learning. Only way to lose is to not learn something.

Yesterday I learned a big lesson not to get to big for my britches as my grandpa would say. And the family got a special DQ trip on dad's shooting budget.

Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

2019 is gonna be great.  Weather is starting to turn.  Been able to make it to the range for pistol and rifle work the last couple weeks.  Also got a class coming up with Steve Anderson Apr 12th.

  5. Alright a new season has started.  I am super stoked for 2019.  2017 was my first non-level one match (Local) where I won production B class at the Indiana Sectional.  In 2018 I shot my second level II match and again got a class win at the Indiana Sectional, but this time in A class.

2018 I shot my first ever match outside Indiana and first match above a level II, the USPSA Factory Gun Nationals (Production).  I was able to walk away with 6th in A class and 53rd overall out of over 240 in production.  I was really excited to see that I can occasionally hang with the big dogs, I even finished 3rd on stage 11 at 96.93% of the stage winner.  Also managed to beat a LOT of Ms and some GMs overall so that was cool for an A class scrub.

Follow me as I train and compete throughout 2019 on my way to the 2019 Iron Sight Nationals Nov 3rd-5th.

I'm uploading stage vids as I get a chance.  I've got footage from 3rd person and first person hat cam from basically all 21 stages with multiple strings.  Plan to do a hind sight report and training plan series once the videos are all done being edited.

A lot more content going up on Instagram just due to ease of use.

  7. I have never seen anything in life that if you are not willing to work hard enough it can't be done.  You don't have to qualify for nats in uspsa just be ready when registration opens.  It will sell out in a couple hours.  Don't neglect the mental game.  It will ensure that you get your current level of skill.

Lanny Bassham says that an athlete can never over trust (mental game) but can always over try.

Stay positive brother you can do anything.  Next year I will be a force to be reckoned with!  ;)

  8. Went to range last night and live fired. Lots of MM and never ran the same drill / run twice. Want to work on bringing average points up to 90 95%. Currently running 80 to 90%. Didn't help that I had a friend at the range and I likely was not completely in MM. Speed mode creeps in.  I like the speed...

By any chance have you checked out Steven Andersons book Get to Work? I just ordered it. After following your forum posts here it makes me wonder if this book wouldnt help you on your journey.

Also, thanks for the youtube video's on the fault lines.... I'm going to make some for myself.

I have all of Steve's books and credit them for going from low B class to top of A class (.05%) off master in a winter of dry firing. Check out all the books and podcast.

Also stay tuned for some more helpful range tips and target builds I got some stuff in the works. Always remember to have a plan before going to the range.

Plan the work, and work the plan!

  10. Yesterday:  live fired head boxes at 5 yards.   Every time you get 2 hits move back 5 yards.  Previous best was 30 yards.   New record is 35 yards! Goal is 50 yards. Every time you get a miss start over at 5 yards.

Next set of drills was move into position from 6 yards out and fire two shots on a half hard cover target at 13 yards.  Best time to first shot was 2.81.  Best total run was 3.1.  Coolest part was shot calling was the best I've ever done.  The distance precision work at the start showed me exactly what I needed to see and then I was able to work on what I could get away with.  Cool stuff give it a try.
