  1. Yea I wasn’t looking for one that fits in the IPSC box. Was just curious which magwell that was. I am looking to replace the one on my TSO with something a little larger

unfortunately CZC is out of stock of the large magwell right now ☹️

I have two TSO's. Unfortunately they came with two different trigger guards. So I had to buy two DAA inserts and swap between them if I change the gun. One fits perfectly, the other one is kinda loose. I called DAA and was told it was fine. It may be fine from the safety point of view but it is pain in the rear to swap it in the middle of the match (I had to do that at the nationals after 4 stages of malfunctions). But more importantly it is inconsistent and sometimes messes with my draw. I may have to live with that if I don't find  any different solution though.

Which one fits all loosey goosey.  The TSO or the Checkmate insert

  3. Regardless of the drill, getting comfortable behind the gun and learning to track the tights and call the shots is what’s most important.  A couple of targets set up like el prez like Chenalt said will allow you to also get comfortable with transitions. Shoot slow, watch the shots, feel the gun recoil, align it back up, shoot again etc... you’ll be wasting time and ammo if you just go out to the range and start blsting bullets all over the place and don’t realize what’s going on

Been running the alpha x for a year now.  No complaints I really like the simplicity of it and change inserts at ease if deciding to run another gun, that was a important selling point for me

I think I just need to pull the trigger and buy one. Ive been getting hung up on the few negative reviews and totally overlooking all the positive stuff people have been talking about

  5. I agree with the running. Once the buzzer goes off the pistol is drawn. I feel a lot more comfortable running with a pistol in my hand rather than in my holster. Even the RHT one I’m currently using.

Aslo i have looked at the pictures and matched it up but i have read on ads on this forum and others that they bought the correct insert for the trigger guard of their pistol but it still didn’t have a good fit and was all loosie goosie

  6. so many pages in this thread but has anyone installed the large magwell from CGW on their orange. It looks like when I do I will need to get different grips because the ones that come with it will be off the base of the magwell and it would look janky

I would think with a thumb rest alpha x would be best option but if you want to try kydex this long's shadow holster has been great for mine. I have found their molding to be by far the most precise I have seen between many brands.  Apparently they are using some sort of computerized molding process as opposed to wrapping heated kydex around a dummy mold.

I have 2 as well. DAA had me send them picture of the frame and holster block to make sure it was correct

I have seen some other people in different treads say that they got the SP01 block and did a little modification to it to get the TSO to fit snugly.  Im guessing that the SP01 has the thinnest trigger guard and with a little bit of sand paper you can open it up to the desired snugness for the TSO.

I have a modified SP-01 insert on mine, buddy as the Czechmate insert on his TS and it's perfect. I think it's a great holster, I started with a Racemaster because I love the versatility of the inserts, and the Alpha-X is a big improvement on the mounting and adjustment system.

Im assuming that there SP01 trigger guard block is the tighter then the two block options DAA offers for the TSO on their website.  Ive seen mixed reviews and a few different people going down the rout of getting the SP)! block and modifying it.  Looking for this holster myself, is this the route I should take first? I feel completely competent modifying the block

i use  the race master  magnetic  ,which uses  the  same  internals  than the  master-X .

just  be  warned  that  ts's  or for  that matter  tso's  are  not  all  equal lol.  the trigger  guard  can be  slightly  different in thickness    from one  unit  to  another...which  means, yeah  it  might  rattle  a  little. for  my TS,i  ordered  the CM  insert at  first, but  the  gun was  sooo loose  in the  holster  that  i've  returned  it    in favor  of  the sp01  insert.  this  one, you  have  a  very  light  sanding  to  perform to  make  it  fit  snuggly  . which i  did  and  couldn't  now  be  happier  with it.

point  being,  be  aware  that  unless  you  choose  to  get  the  sp01  insert, then work it  yourself  for  a  perfect  fit, it's  likely  you may  (or  not )   have  to  live  with  a  gun moving  around  a little  once  locked.

as  for  the  baseplates,i  simply  made  my  own custom  aluminum  baseplates  with a  set  screw  so  they  won't  pop out the mags   on  landing.

So would you get the Sp01 insert right out fo the game and work it to fit.  On Double Alphas site I have the TSO with frame #2 (which is the actual TSO block). I am assuming the SP01's block is tighter than that of the TSO or the CM.

I can’t say anything about a alpha x for a 2011 but just like another already posted I’ve had issues with my alpha x for my Cz TSO since day one. It is very loose allowing the gun to wiggle in every direction and has only gotten worse. It’s very hard to get a repeatable grip because of this. Worse part is I called DAA when I first got it and they asked if it still locked even though it wiggled and after telling them it did they told me ok that is normal sometimes let us know if it gets worse so when I did they said ok we will sale you another one if you like. Customer service is a joke! I would not buy another one especially for a TSO.

Im curious which TSO do you have.  TS%20-Orange-Czechmate-frame-issue1.jpg

i have the trigger guard of gun #2. Also does the alpha x not have any kind of micro adjustment set screw to allow for tightening up like the CR Speed or a Ghost holster?

  12. my progression was I shot a Glock 19 in limited minor for my first 2 matches. Shortly after that I knew I wanted to do this (USPSA) so I bought a Glock 35 already set up with a magwell, trigger, base pads etc.  I dumped more money into that by adding a weight and getting a race holster (Ghost the one).  Shot that for a year and had my fair share of issues, mostly my fault I sure but knew I wanted to get something "better".  Bought a TSO from a friend and immediately shot better...... for one match. Then all the faults I have as a shooter came back out. Despite that I am happy with my selection of a CZ. I like how the gun feels better than the Glock ever did.  has a more natural feel.

I don't like the barrel support for no other reason than getting in and out of awkward positions where at strange leg angles it can jab my thigh. With my Alpha-X the gun is just as locked in as with my old safariland while holstered, and when I'm shooting it's more out of the way.

I’m really looking hard at the DAA Alpha X. Looks top notch, I like how the entire body is aluminum (insert looks to be delron) where as the ghost “the one” and the cr speed are plastic composite. Just gonna convince myself to bite the $80~ up charge. Might be something I save a little more for. Sell a kidney or something....

I have both and prefer with the support.

I've never had an issue without the support, but I'm always worried that someday I might reach down to draw and not close my fingers around the grip properly then have the gun fall on the deck.

So because of that my draws are always slower because my mind messes with me and I become extra cautious.

Most all of these trigger guard holsters with a barrel support onlynhave a little nub for the barrel so I think if you do enough to knock the gun out of the holster is going to the deck anyways.

Other thank that. Good things to think about. I used a cr speeds a loaner for a match and liked it but thought the support was a little clunky and though if I had to crouch or start seated it could jab

  15. So I’m looking to go from a kydex holster to a race holster for a CZ TS Orange. Many options, and I know they all have their fan base. But my questions is some come with barrel supports like the CR Speed, and others like the Double Alpha do not have a barrel support. Is there a benefit to either? Is it just a preference thing?  Just looking for a little insight. Thanks!

I had issues using a phone app for a shot timer.  I finally broke down a ordered one the other day.  It was useful for par times though.  I would set a par time and practice on reloads.  Was a big help on my shotgun.

For live fire I believe you need a dedicated timer. But for nearly a year I used a free app and my phone for dryfire. All you really need is something you can set to delay beep and a par time beep. This in conjunction with Ben’s Dry Fire Reloded book helped me a ton. As for live fire. Bill drills, accelerator drill, and evaluating my previous match and work on things I struggled with, ie moving in and out of positions while engaging targets.
