The questions that will be put to the membership have not yet been determined. Feel free to post your proposed questions here. I'll make sure the Rules Committee has a chance to review them.

It's likely that it would be easier to allow optics or irons than to add a new Division. But that would be a Board decision.

    1. A request more than a question, please mirror whatever the change is to be in alignment of IPSC rules. This way USPSA can send a prepared revolver team to the World Shoot.
    2. Many revolvers with a red dot have comps or ports. Is the rules committee considering allowing comps & ports on the red dot revolvers?

  2. The confusing part is, why is there a gripe? Something changed that wasn’t liked? Did they get involved before the rules change? Do they know the rules represent more than just a single faction of membership?

It’s worrisome that all the griping is happening when the items to be changed are brought to the meeting by Area Directors (from their constituents) or through safety concerns or overall evolving of the industry.

It’s like a business setting & the griping people have no idea how businesses work with meetings & such. An agenda is posted beforehand for all to see. This would be the prime time the yes folks or nay-sayers would talk with their AD to address their concerns. It could sway that AD’s vote one way or another. FB & internet fights with fake account names don’t count, that’s not a business practice.

The ADs/voting members discuss the issue & the majority of the votes decide what the changes are to be or are declined.

Each area is represented. All votes are equal.

So why the griping? If they felt so strongly about it, you would think they would know the process & be part of the change they want to see. After the fact looks a tad overly dramatic.

  3. Not that specific guide rod. I have the Springer Precision Tungsten guide rod for my X5. Makes a world of difference. I think the Springer one is slightly different & heavier.

  4. I've been holding off waiting for a 6moa to come available somewhere.  I have the RTS2 now and it is a nice optic at $310.  I've just decided I'm not paying $600+ for a Sig.  I figure there is a reason the 3moa is available but everywhere is out of stock on the 6moa.

Try the Midway “notify me when in stock” option. You have to be super quick on it though, like immediately when you get the email.
  5. Is the 3moa version even worth considering?  I know of a place that has them on sale for $479.99 shipped free but not shipping for a week.

I wouldn’t go 3 moa. The 6 moa is more versatile, especially in high sun. The 6 moa can turn down to as small as I would ever need to go on distance targets, distant head shots on some of the classifiers.
  6. This is what I will likely do if I ever find a Sig at a reasonable price with a 6moa dot.  I'll try to keep my mount since it is coated to the gun.  I'll be using an American made mill though.

In Max’s IG Live Dry Fire session on Friday, he said more (200-300) of the Sig optics will be available in a few weeks. After that he said they should been easier to get, smoother/more frequent distribution.

I know it wasn’t one if your OP choices but you might look at Akai Custom parts. They have a couple different mounts to choose from & seem to be able to easily make modifications as needed. They really helped me out when I was trying to match (feel & weight) my back up open gun to my match gun. Love their thumb rests & magwells too.
  7. I wonder what the breakdown of the test questions are, new vs ones that haven’t changed.
I’ve ran into ROs who don’t have a clue as to any of the newer rules. They’ve been shooting for 10-20-30 years & tell stories like “back in the day you couldn’t do this...”.
It’s pretty frustrating to educated them while trying to shoot a stage.
Maybe a 25% of rules that haven’t changed in 5 years.
50% of common rules that seem to draw conflict.
And the last 25% of rules that have changed in the last 2 years.

  8. Plated are the cleanest.  Closed back(no lead exposed), and no potential gas cutting issues like coated.  Whatever is left in the gun is from the powder.  Even Autocomp @ 5.6 - 5.8g is very clean behind a plated 124.  Cleaner than my usual minor load of 3.8g Sport Pistol behind a 125g coated Precision, and the Sport Pistol load is in its sweet pressure spot and inherently cleaner.

I have some WAC I need to use up & been looking for a carry optic load for practice rounds. How hot would you say this loaf is at 5.6-5.8 gr? Hotter than Winchester White Box.

Trying to see if it’s worth trying to use up the powder. Thanks.
  9. The base level: a well ran match. Adequate number of ROs familiar with the rules, props that work consistently - all day long, a functional timeline, good communication, plenty of safe tables & bathroom stops.

    Potential Extra-Curricular Match features
*Match Shirts - vendors & sponsors get more bang for their buck with these since competitors will wear them to other matches.

*Competitor Lunches - doesn’t have to be included but have items available for purchase, chips, drinks, sandwiches, fruit, maybe a food truck or Boy Scout group to handle this.
*Drinking Water on the Bays - bottles of water are a must, especially 85° and above temps. Jugs of water get nasty. No one carries around cups either.

*Prize Table (Random or Order of Finish) - gift certificates & deep discount cards are good. Some fly in & it’s hard to get everything in suitcase.
*Cash Payback - good idea for top spots
*Random Gun Drawings - at least one for staff & then others as well
*Match Ammo Service - if you are running a chrono, this should be mandatory.

*Onsite RV/Camping, match hotel discounts, local restaurant info - have the info available, this is just good community business.

  10. Ask your builder what they believe the benefit is. That can be very telling. Is it something they specialize in? Have you tried one of their guns with the holes?

I have one with V6 holes and love it. USPSA & SC, no 3 gun. The 2 sets of holes on the side are angled to help hold the muzzle down. The gases are pushed up & out The angle of the holes matter quite a bit. Can’t just drill holes & up the price of the gun.

I shot a friend’s gun with popple holes (different maker) & it blows the gases back in your face. Hated that experience. Made me hold my breath every time I pulled the trigger. Plus I thought it had more muzzle flip.

not sure getting the gun a top shooter won races with makes any sense at all

pretty sure the gun the common joe gets is not the same gun the top shooter gets

Topic was affordable guns. Usually top shooters pick dependable guns.

Custom guns are set to a customers preferences. Even stock guns like an STI DVC will have different after market changes according to the preferences of the buyer. Magwell style & weight, thumb rest, kind/style of dot, recoil spring, the way a trigger is set. These things are true as well for non-open guns. Same gun, but not the same preferences.
