  1. Hey guys, I just talked to Steve and here is the scoop -

Show up at 8am either Saturday or Sunday (whichever day you signed up for)

250 rounds should be plenty as it is 7-8 stages

The stages are all IPSC approved and for those that have shot a Rio weekend match it will be pretty standard for them. For those of you that haven't....you'll have a blast.

If anyone has any other questions just give Steve a call. He is sorry he hasn't gotten back to folks but he has been out of town all week and lost the thumb drive that had the list of names on it.

  2. Even better, just watch what happens when you post a question out here....I usually get a PM back from Gary (Dillon) telling me the answer and a new part is in the mail! Great service considering he knows I only live 20 mins away from the shop.

  3. <_< Hmmmm I know there have to be other Harley riders out there....this is my latest baby.

How about an old Harley! This is a picture of my dad on his new 1939 Harley. He bought it new when he was discharged from the Navy. He got out in Virginia and this picture was taken shortly after he got home in Belt, Montana. He said that it was a long, lonely ride.

    Nice!

  4. :P Hi kay, I started this thread and hopefully you are well on your way to recovery and we can end it. If nothing else you should realize the impact you have made on so many people in this world and how much you are loved and respected. :) Ok Jerry that goes for you too!!!!

    Love you both!

    Trisha

  5. Hi everyone, I was just told that Kay was struck in the left arm yesterday by a poisenous snake and there is grave concerns right now about her health and the state of her arm. In light of this I am not sure Jerry will be at the Dust Devil Classic this weekend as planned but wanted to send out my prayers and best wishes to Kay and her family.

    Kay we love you!

  6. :) Just to add to that, I bought mine from Angus Hobdell at Ghostholster. He recommended them because I wear hearing aids in both ears and we found that using these I could ditch the hearing aids at matches and still hear conversations....Can't say enough about how comfortable and WONDERFUL these ear muffs are! There are many many guys that I shoot with that are hard of hearing that I wish would get a pair of these as well!
  7. Hi Ladies!

Trisha, I totally agree with you on attending a Ladies Camp before something like Area2. The swingers were my biggest challenge...(actually, ANYTHING that moved, including me moving on that roller coaster!)

I have been remiss in practice and matches the last 18 months due to finishing school. (Finally!) Running two MBAs side by side was sadistic. Anyway, 2007 won't be shooting "Hit &miss" for me...I'm going to shoot every match I can get to, and will make it a point to get to them.

It's nice to be back. Happy Holidays everyone.

    Carol

Ok Carol...there is our next celebration!!! Two MBA's....silly woman!!! Congrats!

  8. Why is a G34 illegal in IPSC? I shot one for several years in Limited and know several people that shoot them in Production.....

IPSC rules state maximum barrel length is 5" to play in Production. The G34 and G35 are 5.5" barrels.

Thanks, you're right...I just checked the rules and they are ok for Limited but not Production. Hmmm I wonder if I should mention that to my friend?

    ;)

  9. I'm not wishing to pull this thread off topic. But does anybody remember the name of the company that was selling the leather holsters there in the vendor tent? The few times I stopped by the booth was unmanned and I didn't get a chance to talk with them about making me an IWB holster.

    TIA!

Although International Handgun Leather does not have a web site - here's a link to all of our sponsors for the match:

You are looking for Ian Martin. He can be reached at gunleather@uswest.net

  10. were you allowed to go backwards at all? if not all the targets are visible when you finish, and you cant go backwards, would they be disappearing targets?

On the sides of the cart were 2 pvc pipes that represented the 180 and you could not cross that. A couple guys did reach back and got dq'd for it - this would definitely be a one way ride but the targets never disappeared as they were all visible all the way down. You could have shot everything from the top if you had the guts and the range :-) Hopefully someone has some good video of it but if you look at the picture that was posted you can see the white pipe sticking up on the right hand side. That was to remind you of the 180.

  11. Ok guys...it was only in the 80's and gorgeous shooting weather! Low 60's for the first stage every morning.

The problem with the roller coaster was you had sets of 3 to 4 targets on each side as you went down. If you were L10 or Production you better reload pretty darn quickly. A lot of shooters forgot there was a brake on the coaster so if they blew a reload or had a malfunction they just blew past targets when they could have stopped themselves. The other end was if you hit the brake too soon there was a certain point where it wouldn't start again and you either had to pull yourself along with the ropes or take all long shots, including a head shot....Disaster factor was huge here but was a total blast!!!! Joe Platt and his crew did an great job in scoring and keeping the stage moving so everyone got through quickly.

  12. Kay, Lisa and Julie - it was so cool to see you at Area 2...not my most stellar match but I can honestly say I totally enjoyed the whole match!

I have to say, of the whole match, it was the swingers that got me. Something I am sure I would have done much better on had I made Kay's advanced camp the previous week....NEXT YEAR!!! The roller coaster was a blast and the tunnel was a short person's revenge. If you are into props this was the match for you even though their scheduling could have used some work.

CONGRATS to Julie and Kay for taking High Lady in their divisions!!!! I believe Tasha Hanish also took High Lady and I figured she should get high (junior) lady as well as rumor has it she is pregant with a little girl :P .....Lisa also looked good but she took a nasty spill running a corner at full tilt.....the gravel at Rio can be a killer but she was a trooper and bounced right back up again. I loved Kay's comment...."I only beat her by 2 seconds and that was with her falling down and getting back up again!" It was truly Lisa's kind of stage of pure hustle....I am so sorry you had to turn into a walking advertisement to road rash over it!

Way to go ladies!!!! Come back and play with us again anytime as 80's weather in November is made for shooting!

  13. Hi Janet and welcome!!! Yep there are a bunch of us ladies out there. If you ever get the opportunity to go to one of the ladies camps (www.bang-inc.com) I can guarantee you will have a great time....What I love about shooting sports is I showed up at the range and just started asking questions. Everyone is so cool about helping and most will let you try their guns as well so you can compare and see which one you like the best. Be warned...we all have our favorites! Just go and have fun!

Hope to see you if you ever get out Arizona way....
