Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Yea I hope I am past my low drawing in the dirt and mud days, but ya never know. I figure 2 is 1, 1 is none. So I think something like this to put with my gear wouldn’t be bad if it is reliable. I’ll atill be holding onto my VP9, as a backup if needed
  2. Thanks for the feedback. I never get one one just for training, but I always train with them first to be sure they meet the needs/expectation of a carry/home defense or CCW before putting em in that role. A legit class let’s me run the weapon hard and make sure it can hold up on a carry capacity. Always better to know the limitations in a co trolled setting vs just carry it and hope for the best
  3. Yea extractors is what I meant. What kindnof issues would you get when it dod have them?
  4. Thanks for the info. Yea the shoots that we were doing was only competition among ourselves. We would do different drills and scenarios (body armor, hostage, malfunctions, bowing pins, move and fire) just to practice and give us something different to do at the range than sit and shoot at static targets. But it if it turns out to be a reliable runner, I would consider putting it with my kit (plate carrier and armor, rifle, etc) to test out and see how it does there, take a few classes with it and really put it through the paces to see if it runs well as a tactical carry gun or not or if it will just be a fast shooting range toy. So so the general gist that I seem to be getting is that the Tactical’s run fine and may need some minor tweaking of the mags for the most part? Maybe some ejection port work?
  5. I totally understand!!! Tried to use a similar analogy but they still didn’t get it. I have a Scat Pack Challenger and I tried to explain it as a Civic could have gotten me to point a and b, but the Challenger does it with so much more style and enjoyment. But it I get where you are coming from with it. I don’t mind a little tweaking if it means it’s gonna run like a scalded dog and be a lot of fun to shoot, but I don’t want to have to do it often to keep it that way. But you you are absolutely right about the Glock. It’s reliable and functional and cheap, but it just doesn’t excite me to go out and shoot like some of my rifles do Thanks for the response! Good to hear from someone that has and uses both.
  6. They are literally the same exact drive time away from my folks, 1.5 hours, as Brazos. I’ll email both thanks again
  7. Have a link on Dawson? Can see where he is located from my folks. I’m all bout supporting my Texas businesses
  8. Really appreciate all of the info! Shot Brazos an email to see if I can set up a time to swing by when I am home next month, he’s only about 1.5 hrs away, handle a few and pick his brain. Maybe tax returns will be back by the. And I can do a deposit. I already have a green triangle RMR that I run on my FNX Tactical that I was planning on shifting over if I got the Omni. Hell I was focusing on a 224 Valkyrie precision rifle build and not even in the market for a new handgun until I saw this one! Luckily we had a little leftover after Hurricane María wiped us out that I can shop toys.
  9. I asked him why if there was an issue why keep getting them but he never answered. So I may have been a cobbled together one off of parts. Don’t know the guy but I’m passing in our gun group, just know he has a mil background. What is it about the tactical that that you like so much? so being new, based on your experience, would you wait a few months to get an Omni to see how they do out in the wild? I’m not in a rush, I’m only back in TX twice a year or so, so it’s not a rush since we won’t be back in the states permanently til next year. But being an expensive purchase I would like to start paying on it (was planning on selling some others to help finance it).
  10. Thanks for the info! The info came from one of the guys trying to convince me not to buy one. Said he had 4 and none of them ever ran out of the box and that he had to send every one off to get it running. But then he did say once they were running well they ran really well. It’s just hard to find in depth reviews of non-competition models like the Tactical. So does it seem that the tuning is needed more for the competition race guns than the Costas and Tactical models? What you you are saying about the recoil accuracy and speed it what really has me interested. I’m also in process of trying to consolidate to 9mm and getting rid of my 40 and 45 and only plan on keeping my Colt Commander in 45 that was a gift.
  11. Mostly just a range toy. My family has a lot of land in TX so we just go out and shoot quite a bit, friendly family competition. If it runs well, it is also something I would like to train with when I go to classes. I used to to do some “tactical shoots” just for the fun of it, but then we were stationed in Puerto Rico a year and a half ago and they are NOT gun friendly at all! So this was gonna be a gift to myself after being stationed here and not being able to go shooting. I may get back into some type of shooting like that depending on where we are stationed next. Not really wanting to compete for prizes but more just to hone my skills and abilities Thanks for the response
  12. Thanks for the response. Not or even sure if anyone even has an Omni in hand since they were just released at SHOT this year.
  13. Hi Everyone, New guy here and to STI, but by no means new to firearms (former infantry Marine), but I fell in love with the STI Omni at SHOT show this year which prompted me to start researching STI. This is is one of the only places I have found where they are actually discussed. Most of the guys in my circles are Mil and LEO and tend to be strongly Cult Glock and have been working very hard to explain why I need a Glock over the Omni. The arguments mostly center around why should a firearm this expensive need any tweaking right out of the box, granted only one of the guys have ever shot or owned one. I get the point, but I’m just sick of plastic guns, they are a dime a dozen. So so rather than listen to people who have never had any hands on with STI, I figured I would reach out to some people who have. I’m not looking to compete, I’m just a regular guy that enjoys shooting, enjoys the 1911 style handgun with the modern upgrades that the Omni has, and likes a firearms that can fire fast and accurate. Overall the design just appeals, but I also don’t want to drop that kind of cash if it’s gonna cost me another grand to get it running right. I am am going to be home in TX next month and thought about reaching out to Brazos and maybe taking a drive over to check them out first hand. With that, thoughts? thanks
