  1. Hey guys,

Had a good friend drop off a tired, old Winchester model 12 in 20ga to see if I could help bring her back into good form.

The major problem was the pump running all the way forward, well past closing the bolt. After I tore it apart I found that a ring soldered to the mag tube (intended to stop pump travel) had broken loose, so with a bit of blue flame I got that all worked out.

On to the current problem. I don't even know if this is a problem or if it's the way it was designed, so I'm looking to the knowledgebase for help. When I threw some dummy rounds in it to function test it I was bothered by the fact that nothing was holding the shells in the magtube. With the bolt all the way closed and locked up, push a shell into the magtube, and unless I lift back up on the carrier, it shoots right back out of the receiver. The shell stop is still there and it comes down when the bolt is opened, so with 2 in the tube I can work the pump, one jumps into place and the second one in the tube is stopped until the bolt is locked up again where it comes to a rest on the carrier.

I've never had my hands on one of these before and I'm not sure if someone modified it, or it was just designed that way. Thanks in advance for all the help folks!!!

You could even get on with a blue Glock or Pink AR.

I'm qualified...the wife's got a pink AR and there are some photos as proof of me shooting it at a three gun match (though mine did malf big time on an earlier stage so I had an excuse ....that and my buddies wouldn't let me borrow theirs knowing full well I'd have to shoot hers :cheers: )

    So I'm on board!!!

  2. Here's a link to an NPR story I heard yesterday on the way home from work:

    http://marketplace.publicradio.org/display...4/01/april_1st/ NO, Not April Fools

Briefly it says that just over a million taxpayers this year won't get that $600 rebate check to stimulate the economy. The IRS has decided that they know what you should buy with your money more than you do. Depending on where you live you might get an air conditioner or snow blower instead of that nice big ammo check (the only correct way to spend it imho ;) ). I wasn't aware that they started goose stepping into the office every morning like the Stazi.

Yup, screw you taxpayer...you're too stupid to spend your own money so we'll just send you a cheeze ass air conditioner that only cost us $200 and zero for shipping (the article said they tell the post office what to do :goof: ) and if you don't like it then stuff it. Do you already have the item that the IRS thinks you should have? Tough, there's no recourse...you're stuck with it.

If I happen to be lucky enough to be deemed too stupid to spend my own money (I don't have an adjustable mortgage and am not going bankrupt, silly me  ) I'm going to host a "Smokey's Rebate" match where everyone can come down and take shots at the air conditioner I so desperately do not need for a couple of bucks apiece and then one lucky participant will get the honor of riding with me and dropping off the fragments in a large box back at the downtown Chicago IRS office! (Maybe that's not such a good grand prize but I'll be sure to deck you out with a ski mask or guy fawkes mask!!! )

Sorry mods if this is against the "political" policy (I didn't read it that way buy I'm a jailhouse lawyer  ) no hard feelings if you need to tear this down  just needed to rant a bit :angry2: :angry2: :angry2:

  3. I HATE all smoke

Should I take offense to that considering my forum name?:P:cheers:

    Same question still applies:

If a women smacks you, hit her back or not?

  4. Their website stinks too.

I haven't had a problem, but I almost never do searches, maybe that's what you mean.

    :angry2: EXACTLY RIGHT :angry2:

The search function is pathetic, period.

Don't get me wrong, I love the catalog to peruse and drool over, but when I need something specific I'd rather look it up online and be done with it. I also prefer to order online because of all the lengthy ordering I do, tons of small items, that would take 20 minutes to order over the phone.

Someone also needs to go over the category breakdowns on the website and actually file things in the right places (sounds like they had the same problem with the catalog and spreading out the barrels all over the place!)

  5. When we get new shooters.. especially those registering Production.. I'll review thier equipment with them. Lots of new shooters have no idea what fits in each division. Hopefully you can get to them before they shoot.

So, they went Open for the big stick, then went to 'shoot for no score', for the > 170MM.

At a club match, I would stop them if I knew.

And if they were new and already shot that one stage, I'd say change the equipment, reshoot the stage, stay in Production.

    +1

Definitely stop them before they started if it was a club level match.

  6. There are a few states, though, where you CAN'T pump your own gas; it's illegal. NJ is one, I believe. They look at you there like you got broccoli in your ears if you even suggest it.

I think NJ just repealed that one IIRC.

The other state is Oregon....state mandated jobs :angry2: .

Almost got into a fight with the attendant when I started pumping it myself and he came up and told me "Hey! you can't do that!" :surprise:<_< .

Thankfully that was many moons ago when I was 18 and pissed at the world........no longer........aw hell, who am I kidding :goof::lol::wacko:

  7. Here are a few that I've seen that qualify:

This last one will quite possibly get me beat up...acutally there will be a waiting list for the honor...my wife will be first in line (never should have gotten her into shooting :surprise: ) since she lived in Texas and wants desperately to move back. So I apologize in advance for the next shirt...please forgive me...I may be living there one day...though it will definitely be under another name now!

    :ph34r:I'm soooooo dead

  8. I can't count how many days I have read one and had it hit very close to home.

    Me too. This one especially....

Belief is one thing and "what is" is another. Belief is a word, a thought,

and this is not the thing, any more than your name is actually you.

    -Krishnamurti

Thanks for the feedback. That one rocked quite a few people. It's so direct and so powerful.

    be

Someone beat me to it!

I spent 3 days re-reading that one trying to wrap my head around it :blink: and I still haven't gotten there yet! But that's the reason I love it so much, every time I get a little more out of it :bow:

  9. The textbook emo is Ally Sheddy's character from the movie "The Breakfast Club". The dark, sulking, nonconformist, twits you see at the mall all the time. <_<

Here's one of those fake motivational posters done up to make fun of emo kids:

    post-6859-1185307711.jpg

The last item on your journey to enlightenment concerning the emo lifestyle should be the "emo song" on youtube, though a word of warning...the songwriter definitely doesn't like emo kids and it shows:

  10. I unscrewed the end off my magazine tube (Nordic Components) removed the spring & follower & just fed all the shells off my belt untill it was empty

    N

Now why the hell didn't I think of doing that instead of shoving 8 dummies in the thing...then unloading it...and then doing it all over again!:cheers:

  11. What's to see in the area?

Having lived there for a goodly portion of my life, let me give you some of my favs in no particular order...

Dog Beach in Ocean Beach - even without your own dog, it's fun to watch pets and the owner's play in the surf.

Exploring the tide pools at La Jolla

The Star of India and the Berkley - Floating museums on the wharf

A drive up to Julian for the apple festival through the Cuyamaca mountains, stop at Dudley's bakery on the way back and buy some Danish apple walnut bread.

    Whale watching

    Deep sea fishing

Balboa Park and it's myriad of museums including the houses of international relations and the japanese gardens.

    The San Diego Zoo

Dinner at any Anthony's Sea Food Grotto (Drink the Grog, Drink the Grog!)

Wander around sea side at Shelter or Harbor Island

Eat a burger and play darts at the Boll Weevil

Explore Old Town, the Presidio, and the Mission...and while there in old town eat at Casa de Bandini (seafood chimichanga) or Casa De Pico

To this day I remember the limerick posted on the restaurant tables:

There once was a man named Rocco

and a pigeon who wanted his taco.

    Said Rocco these words,

    "Please don't feed the birds

for we fear it may bring a whole flocko."

ETA: And how could I forget!!! The "Over the Line" tournaments at Mission Bay!!! (Go profo-athlectics!)

San Diego has conservative roots as it was (and still is to a degree) a navy town. The weatherman could almost do his forecast days in advance because most times it stays in the 70's. Too bad it can't just secede from Kalifornia.

    Damnit Carinab...now I want a loaf of Jalepeno/Cheese bread and a Steerburger!!!!!!!!!! :wub::lol:<_<

That brings back memories of good times!
