  1. How do people setup their PDP's for IPSC? There you cannot replace the recoil spring with a Sprinco system or similar. I have real trouble finding any IPSC legal replacement guide rods and springs here in Europe. Most used ones seem to be shipped inside USA only, at least not shipped to my country. Anyone using glock guide rods, recoil springs and striker springs? If so, which ones? Im shooting a 4.5" Fullsize with factory loads.

    Any input would be appreciated.

Production for 80% of the past 6 years. I don't stage plan reloads anymore. They happen where they happen. The movement and the targets are far far more important than the reload.

You mean that you subconsciously initiate a reload every time you move several steps without engaging targets or something else? Can you please open up your approach on this further? Thanks!

I got the Aggressive version and it is insanely grippy. I'm slightly worried my delicate computer guy hands are going to grate off. Easily 2x more grip than the Henning aluminums that I also have.

Do you know is it more or less aggressive than their G10 Bogies or similar?

  4. I am running a dot with my Beretta 1301. Generally it's great with slugs and buckshot and does increase my accuracy during difficult shots with birdshot but it does make me a bit slower on conventional birdshot stages.

I see no problem with the type of "slow" flying clays you mentioned but for trap/skeet type of flying clays a red dot will hurt my shooting.

  5. When reading american articles about handgunds I am always baffled cause they usually shoot groups to 10 yards. I think the standard range everywhere else for handguns is 25 meters = 27,3 yards. I think 25m groups tell a whole lot more and also it teaches the shooter a lot more about what he is doing wrong. Here in Finland even the 18 year old military conscripts start from 25 meters and they usually havent done any shooting before. I dont get it, why go for 10 yards?

    Hi Slowmisses,

Do you have any pics of the results?

    Thanks!

Sorry no pics but I can tell you that I am positively surprised. I loaded 200 rounds (batch for load development) and the crimp removal seems good enough not to cause bigger concerns. Out of the 3000 brass I prepped, I expect a few crushed primers but for now Im happy with results.

  7. I bought it and have prepped around 3000 brass with it (maybe 2000 crimped ones). Had some difficulties at first trying to get it centered but then gave up and just went with it. Im only just starting the reload phase so cannot yet comment about how good job it does. By the looks of decrimped brass, I am a little worried there might be issues when priming.

I am now running Shadow 2 OR with DPP on a original CZ mount. Currently using 13lb recoil spring and shooting Bulk Factory ammunition (Geco or Sellier&Bellot). How do I know if a lighter spring would help with recoil? Putting the DPP on top increased the recoil noticeably.

Someone must know what to use with factory ammo?

Your best bet is to find a machinist or gun smith who can make one based on your old firing pin. I paid 20€ each for my last firing pins.

Sorry, I wrote this not thinking that some people live in USA. For us in Europe only change is to make one because S&W customer support doesn't extend here.

  11. Light strikes are not a big issue. I am currently using a below 13lb spring on my SP01 Shadow with no misfires with Kadet kit. For Kadet to work I just cut the Kadet firing pin spring(a little at a time) until it doesn't misfire anymore. Seems to be a common solution. Some people also like to sharpen the tip of the firing pin.

If you are going to necro a thread at least pull a better one back from the dark ages.

So there is a 4 page thread about matchsaver detonation and in those 4 pages there no one has been able to to actually produce himself the situation. Then few years later there is some new information on this topic but it is not allowed to be discussed anymore because someone will be offended? By what? Could they just not open if they are not interested?

  13. During dryfire practice I have actually had this happen with dummy round, matchsaver and Beretta 1301. Both times the round was left between the frame and extractor, which was penetrating into the dummy primer (silicone). Both times scared the hell out of me and made me think if I should ever use matchsaver with a live round.
