  2. Final update on this, Allchin moonclips are perfect on the Starline 38 Super Comp brass. I wanted to get a few loads on them and see if they changed,  they are still working great. The BMT Mooner Model N9-8 is also working great, loads easily and takes a little snap to get the first case out but the rest snap right out.

  3. Allchin Gun Parts came through, his moonclips fit perfectly on the Super Comp brass. Nice snug fit, no fighting getting brass in or out. The center bore is also the same size as the mandrel on my TK loader.

A friend has a BMT mooner for him 929 and I'm going to see how it works with Super Comp, 9mm is so close I don't expect any problems. BMT offers one for standard 38 Super but said they hadn't ever experimented with the 38 Super Comp brass to know for sure if it would work, they also thought the 9mm for the 929 should work

I know this is not what you asked but what about just using 38 shorts, or cut 38 spls down. That way you could use standard 627 clips and have a nice light load for SC.

I looked at that but didn't want another caliber to load, I'm already set up for 38 Super Comp, so this will be just a powder and powder charge change.

Yes, the 38 Super ACP has a groove diameter the same or close to the 9mm so using 9mm clip should do the deal, 38 SUPER COMP moon clips

will run you some $$$ I would have to guess.

BUT if you have a ton of Super Comp lying around maybe that's a way to go, you usually get your moon clips back at a match if you lose one or two,

can't say the same for when they get stepped on.  You could check with TK Custom or Heathco, I believe they both burn their own clips.

I asked TK, I was told they've never made any Super Comp moonclips, but I could send them brass and they could make them. That's my fallback if I don't find something

I have shot my 627 8 shot 357 in 38 Super at Nationals when USPSA recognized these and scored them Major with 165 PF (Chrono)

My reloads worked best with Starline brass, 130 gr Montana Gold 130 gr RN .356 and Moonclips made FOR 38 Super from Brownell's and I used a -.0002 EGW sizing dies. New Starline Brass also worked but reloads need the undersized die to work smoothly.

PM me for pix by phone and Brownell part numbers at 509-979-9575 Bill

Bill I've tried dropping both .355 and .356 loaded ammo in the cylinder, neither will drop on mine. I have new brass and reloads, neither will drop but they fit fine in my ShockBottle and a Midway case gauge.

Nobody's mentioned it yet but moon clips for 38 Super Comp are different than 38 Super semi-rimmed,

I just measured both and the groove diameter on the Super Comp was .330 and for 38 Super semi-rimmed it was .340

I'm pretty sure someone made some moon clips for 38 Super Comp (Heathco??) but just know they are different.

I think you're right, I've been told the original 38 Super moonclips may work, been told the 929 9 mm moonclips may work. Just hoping someone has been down this road with 38 Super Comp brass and found a reasonable fitting moonclip. My Open 38 Super will shoot both 38 Super and 38 Super Comp, but it requires an extractor swap, that leads me to believe the 9mm clips may be a closer fit

You may want to try the ammo in your gun first. A lot of times 38 Super will chamber in a 38/ 357 gun without any alteration. Don't know about the moonclips, 9mm might work. Let us know what you end up with.

It won't drop in mine, comes up about  1/4" short. I'm trying to get my hands on some factory 929 moonclips to test.

  9. I'm using an small MTM Survivor Dry Box. Holds enough magazines to shoot 3 stages, and extra ammo ammo. It's nice having enough mags on hand to get through several stages without having to reload mags each time. In the colder months it's large enough to throw a hand warmer or two in to keep the mags and ammo warm

  10. I shot USPSA matches almost weekly between 1994 and 1999. Got heavily involved with club politics and working or running matches, then our second daughter was born. I took what I thought was going to be a brief break but didn't shoot another match until a friend drug me to an IDPA match in 2016. Before the layoff I hit 85.3% in Limited, I'm shooting well now but really struggling to see any classifiers near that.
