Looks for Match

Looks for Match (2/11)

  1. The Idaho Society of Practical Shooters and the Nampa Rod and Gun Club will be hosting the 2022 Idaho Steel Challenge Championship September 30 through October 2nd, 2022. 3 Day format with Set up and Staff match on the Friday (9/30) and the Main Match on Saturday and Sunday Registration is open on Practiscore, https://practiscore.com/2022-idaho-state-steel-challenge-champioship-presented-by-jims-guns-ammo-and-repair/register
  2. Final update on this, Allchin moonclips are perfect on the Starline 38 Super Comp brass. I wanted to get a few loads on them and see if they changed, they are still working great. The BMT Mooner Model N9-8 is also working great, loads easily and takes a little snap to get the first case out but the rest snap right out.
  3. Allchin Gun Parts came through, his moonclips fit perfectly on the Super Comp brass. Nice snug fit, no fighting getting brass in or out. The center bore is also the same size as the mandrel on my TK loader. A friend has a BMT mooner for him 929 and I'm going to see how it works with Super Comp, 9mm is so close I don't expect any problems. BMT offers one for standard 38 Super but said they hadn't ever experimented with the 38 Super Comp brass to know for sure if it would work, they also thought the 9mm for the 929 should work
  4. Have they announced the date of Area 2 yet?
  5. I stumbled on Amsoil Synthetic Gun Lube and really like it. Comes in a bottle with dropper or aerosol spray. They also have a spray cleaner that works good for cleaning the inside of the revolver
  6. I put the Apex trigger in my Shadow 2, been very happy with everything they produce
  7. I looked at that but didn't want another caliber to load, I'm already set up for 38 Super Comp, so this will be just a powder and powder charge change.
  8. He's out of stock, but thinks he should have some within a couple weeks. I've been talking with him, he's the reason I started looking at making the change to Super Comp
  9. I asked TK, I was told they've never made any Super Comp moonclips, but I could send them brass and they could make them. That's my fallback if I don't find something
  10. Bill I've tried dropping both .355 and .356 loaded ammo in the cylinder, neither will drop on mine. I have new brass and reloads, neither will drop but they fit fine in my ShockBottle and a Midway case gauge.
  11. I think you're right, I've been told the original 38 Super moonclips may work, been told the 929 9 mm moonclips may work. Just hoping someone has been down this road with 38 Super Comp brass and found a reasonable fitting moonclip. My Open 38 Super will shoot both 38 Super and 38 Super Comp, but it requires an extractor swap, that leads me to believe the 9mm clips may be a closer fit
  12. It won't drop in mine, comes up about 1/4" short. I'm trying to get my hands on some factory 929 moonclips to test.
  13. I think I'm going to have my 627 re-cut for 38 Super, using it specifically for Steel Challenge. What moonclips work best for Starline 38 Super Comp brass?
  14. I'm using an small MTM Survivor Dry Box. Holds enough magazines to shoot 3 stages, and extra ammo ammo. It's nice having enough mags on hand to get through several stages without having to reload mags each time. In the colder months it's large enough to throw a hand warmer or two in to keep the mags and ammo warm
  15. I shot USPSA matches almost weekly between 1994 and 1999. Got heavily involved with club politics and working or running matches, then our second daughter was born. I took what I thought was going to be a brief break but didn't shoot another match until a friend drug me to an IDPA match in 2016. Before the layoff I hit 85.3% in Limited, I'm shooting well now but really struggling to see any classifiers near that.
