  1. Just got a MPA DS9 IDPA 2011 and forgot that I used an extended slide stop on my Dan Wesson PM9.
I plan to use this in IDPA where slide lock reloads are the norm.
This is my first 2011 so forgive my ignorance. Do any 1911 extended slide stops fit 2011s? I saw some people mention the Triarc slide stops but they’re out of stock.
Just wondering what my options are and I understand I may need a smith to fit it.
    Thanks

Maybe he didn't bother cleaning it because he knew this would happen and he would get a new one?

Certainly possible! Can't blame him for going that route.

  3. I just got off the phone with Cajun. He said I had 2 options. Have him mill a relief cut and void the warranty OR send it back for a replacement and loose the nicer nitride finish. I told him I don’t care about the finish so let’s just send it back.

David was confident that if he milled the relief cut, it would solve the issue. Originally he had said that it’s a very light crack and it will not get any worse. I quickly told him that isn’t true as there are numerous photos online showing pieces of metal actually breaking off.

It was tempting to have him mill it as I’d probably have the gun back pretty quickly. But I would be nervous about voiding the warranty if anything happened later.

Now I play the waiting game as David had no idea how long it would take to get a replacement.

Area 7 is 3 months away. I would hope you get one back by then.

    What state you located in?

I sure hope so! But I know Cajun is busy. Hopefully they can quickly get it cajunized once the replacement arrives....

    I’m in lovely MA...

Kudos to CGW for making it right.

I was in a panic trying to figure out what to do. I knew CZ would replace the gun under warranty but then I'd be out all of the money on getting it cajunized, new sights etc. Cajun is the best. I just hope I can get the replacement in time for Area 7 in June...If not, my cajunized SP-01 Shadow will have to suffice.

  6. My arcore finish (made in 2016) S2 developed a crack😭 I bought it directly from Cajun gun works in March 2017 and they're having me ship it back to them so they can send it back to CZ. Really sucks. But cajun is making it right and will upgrade/cajunize the replacement S2 they receive from CZ.

My math was way off. It’s $120 per 5000 or $24.17 per thousand shipped shipped when you order 20000, or $122 per 5000 if you only order 15000 (you have to spend $300 to get the 10% off and free shipping).

    Sorry. Still a good deal.

Now for cyber Monday Brownells has 10% off plus free shipping on all orders.

    I ordered 20k from Brownells.

Using the 10% code (free shipping), even with hazmat they come out to $109.60 per thousand.

If Midway or Grafs is cheaper please tell me what I’m missing????

Thanks for the heads up. Just ordere 20k myself. $24 per 1k is the lowest I’ve ever spent on primers. Fiocchi can be found that cheap locally but I try to stick wirh CCI and Win.

I know it’s been covered ad nauseam, but if you buy 2k or more from Precision Delta you can get JHP for about $2-$3 more than plated. And that’s $2-$3 total, not per 1000. If you get FMJ’s it’s almost a wash.

Once you go JHP, you never go back.

I believe PD has %5 off right now?

8% off when you spend $300 on:
    115 JHPs
    124 JHPs
    147 FMJs
    .40 165 FMJs

    NOV08 is the coupon.

Stop shopping for reloading components there entirely.

Even with Midway’s free hazmat, Powder Valley is still more than $20 cheaper for 15k of CCI #500 small primers - with a full price hazmat fee included from PV.

(CCIs are $31+ per 1,000 from Midway, $28 from Powder Valley.)

Same with bullets: Go through one of the cheaper places like Precision Delta for FMJ or Blue / ACME for coated, and Midway’s prices look really high.

Unless you’re only buying a few hundred as a casual shooter, bulk pricing from other places factors in and kills any shipping advantage.

This!! Midway RARELY beats Powder Valley on pricing and selection. And for bullets, Midway should be the last place to buy from. Much better off buying from companies like blue bullets, precision delta, and Roze distribution (Zero bullets).

Oh by the way, there's talk on the blue bullets facebook group that they plan to have a 15% off sale....I'll report back if there's a coupon code.

Come on Powder Valley!!! I need some primers , don’t let other companies get all my money in pre-Black Friday sales. Already spent a good chunk with Precision Delta.

Ya I really hope PV has a BF sale. I believe they just had free shipping on orders over $49 last year.

I do the same thing but don't have to worry about making "B" too soon (congratulations on a great start).

Anyhow ... my first shot is usually at the lower center of the A box and my second directly below it in D city.

I noticed pretty quickly that I was mentally centering my shots on the center of the body of the target (USPSA metric) ... and if you measure you will see that the center of the bottom 24 inches (ignoring the head) you are only an inch above the bottom of the A zone.

It doesn't take much to pull the second shot into a C or worse.

I figured at least while I'm working on the problem I can score a bit higher if I remember to aim higher on the body of the target.

Haha good strategy I suppose ;-)

I need to record myself or carefully watch my shots since I don't know if my first shot is high (A zone) or low (C zone). I suspect the first shot is A then I pull into C zone...

this is a pretty common problem, and it's one I was struggling with a couple months ago when trying to shoot fast. recoil springs and loads make some difference, but the bottom line is you are not aware of where the gun is pointed when the 2nd shot goes off. You may be seeing the sights come back down, but as you start to pull the trigger you are kind of tuning out, and the gun is still moving, so when the shot breaks, it hits low.

I think this is what I'm doing. There were a couple stages where I took 3 really fast shots just to hit a steel popper and my buddy was like "damn that was fast but did you even see your sights?"

I "thought" I had my sights aligned but I most likely didn't. That and I could have been slapping the trigger....

  14. 32 minutes ago, CHA-LEE said:

Sounds like you are mashing the crap out of the trigger and pulling the shot low. What you described also sounds like your are "Double Tapping" instead of treating each shot as a separate event. If you decide to shoot and simply mash the twice in the general direction of the target then you will usually have crappy second hits. If you are not seeing the sights on the second shot, then that is your number one problem to fix.

Abandon the concept of a "Double Tap". There are instead two individual shots that happen in rapid succession.

That's certainly possible. I try to make sure I see my sights before every trigger pull but I think sometimes I get so anxious on the clock and get sloppy trying to go fast...

Thanks for the feedback. Keep it coming guys.

  15. Good point. I originally had a 10# spring but noticed some peening on the impact abutment inside the frame which I thought was due to a light spring, so I bumped it to a 11#

Though it could have just been a worn spring not necessarily the wrong weight....

Maybe I could record myself and the targets to see where my shots are hitting when I do double taps.
