  1. Just shot my first Steel Challenge match this weekend.  I think I enjoyed it more than the USPSA match, probably because I was better at it 😛.  I plan to keep doing both, and look forward to improving at both.  Thanks for all the tips.

Hello: That code does not work on the grip module. Thanks, Eric

Just tried it earlier and it did.  You have to register an account first and be signed in before you can use the code.

Significant difference I shot my legion grip for the first time Sunday. I liked the feel of my X5 previously but I don't think I could go back.

The tungsten guide rod makes a difference if your coming from stock. But its a combination of using lighter springs and weight out front. Im not sure it would make as much difference if you have tungsten grip. I would say get tungsten grip, get steel guide rod and a 14/12.5 lb spring and save the 100+ dollars on tungsten guide rod. and if you still feel you want more weight up front it will only be an ounce or so  but its only a $20 waste on the steel guide rod

I already have the steel guide rod, and have been using a 15lb spring.  What's the most common weight that's used.  I shot Speer Lawman 124gr in my first USPSA match, but will probably by some of the competition loads from Atlanta Arms.

  4. Thinking about buying the Legion grip for my X5, as well as a tungsten guide rod.  Do these really make a big difference?   I am shooting CO.

How was your stage planning ?

Definitely need to work on that too.  I was lucky to be in a squad with some pretty good shooters, so I was able to watch them and plan accordingly.  I pretty much just focused on counting the targets and making sure I got them all.

  6. Well, scored 39 out of 54 overall, and 8 out of 13 in CO.  Time was pretty slow, but I had the most A hits overall.    Had a great time and could feel myself getting more comfortable as we progressed through the stages.  Looking forward to shooting more and getting better.

  7. Finally signed up for my first USPSA match this Saturday.  I'll be shooting a Sig X5 with Romeo 1 in CO using Speer Lawman 124gr.  Any advice, tips, tricks are welcome.  I've shot timed courses of fire before during work qualifications, but nothing quite like this.

  8. I've been practicing with my X5 after putting a Springer Precision stainless steel guide rod in.  With the 15 lb. spring, after my first shot, the gun doesn't even dip back down low enough to be on target, and I have to push the gun back down.  Should I install the stock guide rod assembly, or invest in one of the tungsten guide rods?  I've been shooting Speer Lawman 124 gr.

Ya mostly size. I’ve used them on carry guns. Just not my preference on a competitive gun. Don’t like pulling them off to mess with battery either.

Any difference you’ve seen between the X5 and FS with the X5 grip module?

Guns aren’t that different. I wouldn’t want an RMR for competition use personally so I would go with the x5 and buy dot of choice.

I have an X5 set up for competition and a 320 with X5 grip and trigger set up for duty carry. They are not very different at all. Currently using 6moa Romeo 1 on both of them.

Why no RMR?  Window size?  Glass clarity?

  11. I have the opportunity to purchase a X5 with 5 21rd mags and BOSS holster for $750, or a P320 full size with RMR, X5 grip module and trigger installed, with 6 21 rd mags for $850.  Which would you go with?  Any problems running the FS with X5 parts in Carry Optics?  Would probably end up purchasing the Romeo 1 for the X5.  Thanks for the help.

  12. I think I've finally decided to shoot one of the local USPSA matches in my area.  I'll probably go for Production or Carry Optics.  Have a Glock 19 with RMR, and may pick up a 17 or 34 for Production.  Does anyone have suggestions on belts, holsters, mag carriers, etc?  Don't want to drop too much money into it right now, but want something that's not going to break or lose function.  Thanks.
