  1. I recently bought the checkmate but am new to SA triggers and brand new to high end set ups:

My trigger has alittle bit of side to side wobble/play in it. Is this normal, perhaps insignificant, or should I look into contacting CZ. maybe have one refitt

At the break, more clarification is...after the break, I notice it feels a tad bit mushy almost like the material that the set screw is made out of could be better.

*Maybe though, I am just over squeezing due to inexperience with a good SA trigger? All my experience is with striker fired and DA/SA stuff.

  2. Newly accepted Checkmate (1K rds factory 115, 124gr american eagles) set up only in the Limited configuration,(no comp, no C-more) first 2 times at range.

    1. Trigger: I am new to SAs for formal training and deliberate training vs. informal and merely rounds downrange. All my serious experience is with issued DA/SA Sigs and personal striker fired Glocks. What a difference, and I now know what all you 191/SA guys have been bragging about all these years. This is my first full sized, all steel SA pistol

    2. Glock 17: Average splits with consistent hits I was at .21 - .23 hits on steel@7yd. Fast for me was .18-.20 with hits.

Checkmate: Immediately out of the package and with no familiarization I was able to get .16 -.18. I did manage to squeak out some .14-.15s with

hits. At .14 I was going as fast   as I could and hoping for hits. The sweet spot for me and the checkmate seemed to be at the .16 splits, faster and

I was unable to call the shot, slower and it felt I had too precise of a sight picture and could let er' rip alittle faster.

       * it was a hit or miss drill and not a zone hit oriented drill.

    3. Trigger comments: I'm new to SA triggers, new to timer drills, competition/structured orientated drills, and definitely new to the upper echelon class of pistols so take it as a grain of salt. I am outclassed with this pistol. There is a small amount of side to side movement, a tad bit "wobbly" not sure if this is normal or insignificant but its there. May need to get an over sized trigger fitted to alleviate? Also, the over travel screw seems small...mushy? Maybe it needs to be a slightly larger diameter? Better screw or different metal?? Not sure how to describe but seems like it could be better refined, perhaps I suck and am over squeezing due to inexperience with a good SA trigger. I do feel that it could be crisper or something as simple as adjusting the screw a gnats leg more. Mine came with a straight face with a curve at the bottom. I have seen pics of a full curve, full flat, and the "hybrid" version.

  3. 1. I need to develop a shooting card  that follows the range rules but allows me to enhance skillsets.  Although the range I shoot at is very nice, it is indoor and only allows steel shooting when you pay for structured sustainment training. Perhaps I can discuss this further with management and come into an agreement of some sort.

    2. I need to develop fundamental drills and record progress as opposed to making loud bang sounds and merely sending rounds down range.

    3. I need to stop and take a pause to analyse when grouping or skill sets are not being met, find out what I am doing wrong and try to correct it.

  4. minor, limited by reloading and ammo.

I'm just getting set up. Between gun and re-gearing, I will be blowing through some initial cash. At least with manufactured ammo I can do small time events.

Reloading will come but $3k for gun, prolly $500 for holsters/pouches, usually shoot 1K manufactured ammo a month. Doesn't leave alot of room till I rebuild funds. I don't even know all the ins/outs and rules yet.

    Dear Diary:

Lesson #1: This is going to be an expensive endeavor

  5. 1st time poster, long time observer and have a few initial gear investment questions:

Recently upped my game from Glock (17) to the CZ checkmate. I am brand new to SA and brand new to comp'ed pistols but I'm ready for gear plung:

Most all of my gear has been tactical and in the heavy abuse categories but old gear suited me well enough for formal training, local competing, and sustainment but I would like to start getting my feet wet in 3gun, 1 gun, and USPSA limited and am having some difficulty settling on a new rig set up.

    - Right now I am looking at https://www.ghostholsterdirect.com/shop/ghost-holster-stinger-rig-set/ set up and would like to soak up comments/input from more experienced than I individuals.

    - About everything I own for Carbine is MOLLE stuff outfitted on various belts so an extra AR mag will be needed as well.

    - Far site picture would be to move up to open but not in near future.

Long Story short, comments and  input needed on new gear for the CZ checkmate in limited form.

  6. Hello to all,

New forum joiner, been scanning topics for a while but never posted.

Will be retiring soon and wanting to get into competition alot more since time will be less of a factor.

Figured I might as well come to THE forum for it.

    Thanks,

    V/r
