A week ago I received the evolution 40 from advanced armament that I put on my xd-40 4" model with a custom 5" threaded tactical barrel. THe other day I shot the gun with the suppressor with a federal 180 FMJ grain load that has a registered muzzle velocity of 990 fps.
That number, however, is tested with a 4" barrel, doesn't propel the bullet as fast as my 5" barrel does.
Needless to say, upon shooting the gun it was loud, although not as loud as shooting without the suppressor. I am almost certain that I heard a sonic crack. The sound projected by the 180 grain federal was not as loud as shooting the same setup with 165 and 135 grain bullets. (As the muzzle velocity increased with the lighter grain loads, it got much louder)
I know nothing of reloading. However, I am a fast learner. I am looking for a 40 S&W bullet that will travel around 750 fps muzzle out of a 5" barrel, while at the same time avoiding to cause damage to my suppressor.
