[Hybrid/Island barrel vs Bull barrel]

So I'm venturing out of my comfort zone and I'm planning to pick up a 2011 style pistol.

 

I see a lot of variations but my main question is if there are benefits of choosing one barrel type versus the other.

 

Also, if there is anybody able to chime in on Akai sleeved barrels into the mix feedback is greatly appreciated.

[STI Edge Factory or Tuned??]

I have a number of 1911/2011's, including a DVC, an Akai, an Atlas, and a Brazos Edge.  They all run good and I like them all for their individual characteristics.  But the Brazos Edge is the best bang for the buck.  You wouldn't be disappointed if you got one.

Which one would you choose out of the four if money didn't determine choice? Why?
How would you compare the Atlas to the Akai?

[Grand Power X-Calibur vs. Canik tp9sfx vs. Walther Q5 Match]

I have all 3 and used to have shadow target , shooting Xcalibur in production and XTrim in IDPA , for the money I don't think you gonna find better bang for the buck.

I've removed the waffle checkering with a dremel sanding disk and then switched to a file so I didn't get myself into trouble. I also used the dremel (large drum) for the beavertail and trigger guard undercut. I polished with strips of belt sander paper. Then I did some hand checkering on the rear. Coated in IonBond DLC. 
 

Wow, beautiful checkering job!!!! How many LPI is that?
Would be awesome if you post a pic of the final result after coating.

I'm at the same recipe with WAC. 6.9 - 7.0 gr at 1.15 with 124 gr xtreme HP. No reaming required.
