  1. With the some metal grips, you can have the mag slightly stick when its not inserted correctly.

I was told at the last match that the limcats new magwell stops this. Anyone have any time on one and can confirm or deny this?
That is correct. I love the limcat magwell. The steel insert makes the mag slide in nice and very smooth. It's like a black hole for mags.lol. I try and insert them in a way that will stuck and cannot get them to stick any longer. Highly recommended.

  2. When I am shooting my open gun I have the dot set to a certain brightness. As I shoot it gets dimmer then another shot it gets dimmer another shot it gets to the point where it is very very light pink that you could hardly see it. So the place where I purchased it they are getting me an RMA to send it back. But they are asking for the serial number. I had to unmount it from my gun and look all over the place for the serial number and could not find it on the scope itself. And this is the first thing that I dislike about this scope is that you have to take it off and I'm at a 10 you have to take the mount with it to get it off. But anyway does anyone know where the serial number is on the scope???
Are you sure that your dot is not on the auto setting? If it's on the auto setting it will dim and brighten as you aim at different targets due to the lighting/auto feature. If you hold the "+" button it will switch back to the manual setting. I thought mine was broken the first time that happened to me.

  3. If its the actual reset movement that is the problem then you have to get into changing the geometry of the sear and hammer interface. you would need to shorten your hammer hooks and play with the sear nose geometry, you would likely need to also look into clearance between the sear and the half cock notch on the hammer to keep that from hitting. All the above should only be undertaken by a very competent smith that really knows what each piece is doing and how small changes will affect everything else.

Without handling your particular pistol I would be surprised if the reset distance on a 1911, with any kind of performance trigger group parts, could be long enough to be a issue.

You may also be surprised to find that many of the top guys have their triggers set up with quite a bit of pre and a fair bit of over travel.
Awesome. Thanks for the reply sir. I will definitely look into that.

  4.
Use the ball bearings I listed above. This fixes the issue completely. Saul even posted that this is what they all come with now. You need that ball bearing to wedge in to expand the split fingers to hold into the groove of the pouch. Once you do this, they are solid.
I got the updated version with the ball bearings. I was able to crank down but the problem is the material on the pouch itself expanding and bending. At that point the hanger gets loose and falls out and can never be mounted again in that same spot.

  5. my buddy bought 5 of these pouches a few days ago, last night 2 of them came apart and my picture looks about the same as the one posted by the op,double alpha responded this morning and are being great about this,so no this isnt a piss on AA this is a topic started by a guy that had some issues with a product and i think he did a great job by posting it to see if others are having the same issues, now that thats out im curious as to the fix,AA suggests that the balljont allen may not hve been tight enough and is asking us to retighten as tight as we can get,we tried this and im still able to grab the mag roughly and get the pouch to pop off,so my buddy will be getting a replacement, now where im going with this is,was there a probem with the first set or was it not being tight enough and it opened the dovetail up,what are others thoughts? thanxs!
Thanks for your reply. You are exactly right. Not a disc on DAA at all. Just wanting to get an idea of how bad the issue is. I've seen it first hand to be a continued issue so ai hope they figure a new mounting system soon because I really like the DAA line.

  6. Just sent mine back for same reason.

The magazine pouch body is novel and certainly cool, however the mounting system is less than confidence inspiring. I'll be using my Polymer Racers until they come out with a more robust mounting system.

Note: DAA customer service was very helpful and nice.

2nd that.....Customer service has been nice and I am also waiting for a new mounting system before I go back to DAA. For the mean time I got the guga ribas pouches and they have been great. They dont stick and fully adjustable!

  7. Thats not to cool for some of the most expensive mag pouches out right now. I've always been a fan of Saul Kirsch and DAA in general but i would have to think twice about upgrading from  my Race master mag pouches after seeing that.
I was at the Gator Classic a few weeks ago and my buddy literally lost 2 new DAA pouches and couldnt find where they fell off at because of the way they mount. I think he had to buy new pouches or borrow some to finish day 2.

  8. Very nice looking Open Guns.  How do you like the newer grips you have on the guns.  I have been thinking about putting on my Open Gun.
The grips are awesome. I have grown very fond of the pt evo. I like the angle and the texture is super aggressive. That paired with an xline vario trigger...[emoji108][emoji108][emoji108]

  9. The tabs on the front of the bow control how much pre-travel the trigger has.  This does nothing for the amount of reset.  Yes, the trigger pull will be longer with more pre-travel, but the trigger will reset and become "live" at the same point irrespective of how much pre-travel there is.

The over travel screw is what controls how much reset there is.  If you have more over travel, you will have a longer reset.  Shorten over travel, and your reset distance is shorter.

ETA-Don't go crazy with the overtravel screw though.  Unless you want to ruin your hammer hooks.
There is literally no overtravel after the trigger break. Same with overtravel. Both of those are very good. I'm looking to shorten the reset. The screw does nothing but adjust overtravel.

  10. Screw in the trigger adjusts over travel. Tab at the front of the trigger bow adjusts pretravel.

I'm guessing you probably are feeling excess over travel.
No. My pretravel is next to none. There is zero overtravel. I am talking about the RESET

  11. I know what pretravel is. I know what overtravel is. I know what reset is. I know how to check the reset. My question that nobody seems to be able to answer is once again is......How do I get better RESET?! Everyone is in this thread talking about pretravel and overtravel. I already know that you test reset it by holding the trigger, racking the slide, and then letting it go to feel the RESET. What I want to know is how to shorten the amount of RESET that I am feeling.

  12. Eddie, let's get the terminology straight.  Reset is the distance the trigger must move forward to allow the disconnector to click up enabling you to pull the trigger again.  You can feel this point.  with an empty pistol, rack the slide and pull the trigger.  Then while holding the trigger back, rack the slide again.  Now slowly release the trigger.  After a bit you will hear a click.  That is the reset.  Any additional distance the trigger moves forward is pretravel.

The pretravel adjustment tabs on the front of the trigger bow only adjust pretravel.  You have to have some or the half cock notch won't work and the gun will be unsafe.

Overtravel adjustments only adjust the distance the trigger moves to the rear AFTER the gun fires.  Again, you have to have some.  If you have too much, it increases the distance the trigger must move forward to reset.

Here is an article I found helpful when I was starting out.  http://www.brazoscustom.com/Home.htm

  13. Who uses CFE for 9mm major???

Can you share your load data?
6.8 of CFE under a 124 JHP precision delta bullet makes major for me in my 3 different 9mm open guns. Averaging 1350-1387 between the 3 guns.

  14. Can anyone assist me on what to do to adjust the reset on a 2011 style trigger. Got a new open gun and the reset is significantly longer than my others. What can I adjust to shorten the reset? Thanks!

  15. They will send you new ball joints that lock up super tight and had the parts in 2 days and not a single issue
Ya I did and also have a friend who recieved all new parts. They still stripped out. He sent his back in and returned as well. I think these would be ok for me if I was reloading carry optics or production as I wouldn't be slamming my hand in a downward motion the way I do when shooting open. I have all DAA products and wish this pouch worked for me. But it's ok. I still use the alpha x holster, other pouches, and a yuuuuge DAA range bag backpack. Now that big ole thing I love.lol

  16. Looks great, but need to tune the extraction for 9major to make it 100%
I was very curious about possible extraction issues to 9. I have a 9mm barrel that I plan to use for locals and havent had a chance to see if that will be an issue with mine yet. [emoji1696][emoji1696]

  17. This thing is too much. Dang he does good work.

Im feeling inspired. I need a new open gun now, ugh.
Johnny does do some great work. The customer service is great also. No doubt if you chose a limcat he'll take good care of you. I'm hoping to make this my backup next season and get a new primary. There is a newer version of the limcat that Inreally want. Its posted on his website. You should take a look.

  18. Well that's good to know. Maybe I will have to revisit these. I got a little paranoid to give them another go at the moment being that I have several majors coming up. I purchased a guga but havent tried it yet.

I’ve had to send 3 pouches back for the same problem. The replacements have had no issues.

  19.
I would like to see a mount with a blast shield.....My gun makes a mess of glass even with a shield. I can't imagine what it would be like without it.

Does anyone else notice a difference in dot tracking with a single sided mount?  I found that REALLY interesting.
So far I only know of the TEvo mount with no blast shield. If my limcat mount comes in with a blast shield I will be sure to take a pic and post to this comment. I luckily haven't had any issues with smoking out my glass with Silhouette. I had some old HS-6 loads that I shot to retrieve the brass and that did gunk up my glass a bit.
