Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I'm getting into reloading 9mm subsonics and eventually will transition into 300blk subs as well as 308. Going to be doing some testing to get the quietest/lowest recoil rounds and figured I should pickup a chrono before I load up thousands of rounds. There seams to be many choices and a wide spectrum of price ranges. Some quick research I see people are liking the Caldwell Precision Chronograph G2. Should I go ahead with this guy, can anyone else recommend anything? Will be using it outdoors in sunny weather. Also is there any good videos/threads/articles on what exactly I should be looking for on the chronograph data when shooting my reloads? Might be caliber specific but at least can send me in the right direction. Thanks.
  2. What's the go to quietest and cleanest powder to shoot subsonic 9mm 147gr? Only shooting suppressed pistols with it and suppressed M11/9 smg and currently have RMR 147gr FP plated bullets as well as Berrys 147 FP's. I have been doing a bunch of post digging and see people a few years back were really ecstatic about the Vihtavuori N320 powder with the 147gr, as well as the N330 and N340 powders. People were saying it was the closest to the "Special K" ammo. I have the latest 50th Lyman and 10th Hornady books and there is only one mention of the Vihtavuori using the N340 powder with TMJ 147 9mm, 3.9gr @ 947fps. Is there newer powders out now that are superior to the Vihtavuori for my intended use? Can anybody recommend any recipes with this powder or one they use themselves? I just want something comparative or better than the Federal American Eagle 147gr I currently shoot as well as cleaner because shooting with a can throws everything back into the host.
