  1. It's hard for me to imagine a 750 being so worn out that it needs a rebuild.  How long have they been making them?  I have a feeling you may have bought a press someone had automated and ran hundreds of thousands of rounds on.  I have a 650 that I have manually loaded around 140,000 rds on & it has needed a few small parts but the press really doesn't need anything major.  In my opinion Dillon shouldn't have to warranty a manual operated press that's been automated.

I hate the 180 rule because so many people try to set up their stages to get you to break it. If we are truly concerned about safety in this sport then keep targets closer to 160 so that it isn't a temptation.   My thoughts have always been DON"T PLACE TARGETS NEAR 180!!!

    Exactly!

  3. Tongue in cheek here but why don't they just let each competitor have his own division?  That way we all win & everyone gets a first place win.  Hahaha.  Just how many divisions do we need? At most local matches in this area, you wind up with only a few people in each division.   Let's water that down some more....

  4. I still have not seen any legitimate reasons for doing staff reset.  I sincerely disagree that it makes a fair & equitable match for all shooters.  About 5-10% of competitors at any match have an unfair disadvantage.   Not 1 of you folks that say staff reset is better for everyone has offered to staff reset for the staff shooters.  The staff always has to reset for themselves usually with smaller squads,  they have to shoot the entire match in less time than the regular competitors.  That is not equitable.  I am sure many of you are saying (perhaps laughing) to yourself "none of the r.o's are ever going to win a major match".  Probably true but we want a fair shot at doing the best we can on every stage & doing it in a fairly equitable way.  You make this staff reset for main match competitors but not for r.o.s, you have just given yourselves a huge advantage that r.o.s don't have.  Either you do part of the work or you are going to be doing it all.  Watching you "supershooters" is sort of interesting but it's definitely not a reward or worth all the work.  Many of the super competitors are great folks & I enjoy helping them & doing my part by r.o.ing but you folks that want me to shoot the match in shorter hours doing all our own reset & then putting our scores in with folks that don't do anything but shoot is not fair & separates "us" from "you" even more.

Again, I am not trying to pick a fight, just expressing my opinion.  It's a volunteer sport, not just for some but for every competitor.

I guess the bigger question is..........who cares?  If you don't want to RO at a staff reset match, don't.  Nobody will think anything of it.

It's a deal.  I won't be working any staff reset matches.  I just have to adjust to the thought of going to a match & not helping.   For 24 plus years, I have never been to a match where I didn't lend a hand.  Even if I wasn't r.o.ing, I would help.  If I got out early,  I would help hang new targets or after lunch, help get stage ready.  Maybe that has been detrimental to my shooting but I always felt it was a group effort.  Once it's staff reset, it becomes shooters & r.o.s, completely separate.   No longer a group effort.  Thanks guys for expressing your opinions without anger.

  6. I am curious why any r.o. would volunteer for staff reset match.  I've always felt part of being a shooter is helping by resetting.   I guess it would lower the frustration having to continue to "encourage " people to reset but it would definitely take away the feeling we are all in this together.   If I(as an r.o.) am doing all your work for you, we are no longer both shooters but I am now a poorly paid servant.  I can make more money easier at my regular work, why tape & reset steel for a bunch of people just watching?  I just can't figure it out.   I am not trying to pick an argument but if there is someone that does a lot of r.o. service that has a view to help me understand, please share it with me.   If this offends anyone,  I apologize up front.  I am just looking for someone to share a different view.

    Thanks!

I’ve seen people reuse old primers by using a punch to (un)dimple the primers. Then creating a slurry out of match heads. I can’t remember the other component to the slurry, but tannerite might be a good compound concept to implement. Really stretching the memory but I think it was match heads and pot ash but I can’t be 100% sure. It is in one of my survival books.

I shot 2 matches with a couple of brothers that had "reloaded" primers back when primers were still cheap.  They said they used match heads.  Was working ok at first but before long their guns were soooo filthy they wouldn't run.  I have no idea what reloading process they used or what powder but it appeared to me the powder wasn't burning thoroughly so it really gummed up the guns.  I mean REALLY  gummed them up.  Was it the primers?   I don't know.   They quit showing up & never saw them again.  It was interesting though.

  8. I would toss out this idea.... glocks are competition ready from the get go.  I've been competing for over 20 years & the number of stock glocks that had issues unrelated to poor ammo could be counted on 10 fingers.  The number of glocks made competition ready with issues could fill a pickup bed.  I am not picking on people modifying their glock but I am picking on them buying all kinds of fancy crap the latest greatest make your glock a race gun stuff & destroying the best thing about a glock & that is it's out of the box reliability & durability.   I shot glocks from 1998 until about 2015 & I modified them slightly but always always 1 mod at a time & plenty of time at the range making certain it worked in my gun with my ammo.  My last limited glock had an aftermarket barrel, modified stock trigger & fiber optic sights.  I shot that gun for 12ish years with only a few spring changes.  I am sure I had a jam or 2 but I don't remember having any.  Shot barrel nearly smooth.   Lol.  Also stick with factory mags...

I'm not telling you what to do just tossing out some ideas
