Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Well thats not what I was hoping not to hear. Jack, the trubor I bought from you is currently at STI with a cracked slide. I bought this one to have something to shoot while I waited on it to be fixed and then to have a backup gun. Now its looking like I will have to send this one off as well. They do stand behind their product, but it is frustrating to have it gone for a couple months at a time. Thanks everyone for your replies.
  2. So the gun you have that is always several inches off on the first shot you just accepted thats how it was or were you able to fix it?
  3. Did it only happen when you shot from a rest?
  4. Just tried that and they were all within an ounce on my Lyman trigger gauge. I appreciate your help.
  5. He said he didnt really shoot it enough to know. I guess he bought it thinking he wanted to shoot open then changed his mind.
  6. No change in gap when i pull the trigger that i can see. Regular recoil system just put a new 9lb spring in.
  7. I just tried it and yes it does.
  8. 9mm major. 115 MG JHP with 7.7 WAC, also had some 124 MG JHP that I tried I think they were around 7.0 WAC.. 1.165 OAL.
  9. Eric I tried that as well, didn't seem to make any difference.
  10. Jack, after the first shot the groups are pretty acceptable. The thrown first shot is actually pretty consistent about where it goes as well. 3 5 shot groups at around 15 yards yielded 2 ragged holes. The Trubor I bought from you had excellent accuracy so I know its possible. Eric off the rest my own inaccuracy came into play some so it was harder to tell exactly.
  11. I recently purchased a used Trubor from a friend and have had a strange accuracy problems with it. When shooting from a rest the first shot is always low and left, very consistently. I have tried replacing the slide stop with an oversized one which did seem to "tighten up" the barrel lockup. I have also tried different sized links. The slide stop pin seemed to help some, the first shot was initially about 6 inches low and left at 12 yards, it then went to about 3. After a few hundred rounds it is getting a bit closer but still way off. Its obviously some sort of problem that is only happening when manually releasing the slide that is not happening when the slide cycles in recoil. Any advice? Thanks
  12. Thanks for the advice! Would one of the small propane torches work or is that too big?
  13. I have tried the search functions for this and I did not turn up any results so I thought I would ask. I recently purchased a used STI Trubor from a forum member and decided I wanted to put a thumb rest on it. When trying to remove the screws I was able to remove some but not the ones I needed to. I almost stripped out the head of a bolt and bent an Allen wrench trying. I contacted the previous owner and he said that he didn't mess with it that it was just how it came from the factory. Any ideas on removal? Not sure if heating with a torch is a very good idea. Also does anyone know what size bolts they are? I need to order some longer ones as the ones that came with the thumbrest won't work. Thanks in advance.
