I have the same gun only it's the sps Vista short open gun I have up graded mine with a tool less guide rod STI grips different trigger and she extractor after I put 15000 rounds through it for the money u can't go wrong

I've seen a few at local matches I always mistake them for limcats, they look similar to me at a glance.  I think the Vista would be my choice for open if I ever venture there.

  2. Just picked up the S.P.S. Pantera in 40 used with 4 S.P.S. 16 round mags and a Blade tech DOH holster on trade. I'm debating if it's worth putting the money into it, and make it my USPSA limited setup.  Traded with a shooting buddy who bought this new 9 months ago (fired shell sleeve says 05-05-15)  He put maybe 400 rounds through it before deciding to do USPSA production class instead.  Ran 100 rounds of Winchester white box the night I picked up, only issue was FO came out (was not properly replaced by him) shot 10 rounds at 7,10,15,20, and 25 yards.  Gun locks up tight, really tight.  Barrel fit is excellent, no movement when I push down on the chamber while locked up, very little movement when I move the barrel back and forth while slide locked to rear.  I gotta say I'm impressed with the overall slide to frame finish.  The grip safety and ambi thumb safeties appear to be MIM not sure, maybe some one can confirm.  Trigger has a little play nothing crazy.  I'm into this gun for about $500. If I upgrade the gun I plan to purchase 6 MBX mags and keep the setup for a while.  My personal feelings are just spend the $650 and make it a sweet running gun for under $2k.

Looking at changing out the following:

    1. EGW ultimate trigger kit $135
    2. PT evo $600 or just stipple this one $0
    3. Titanium hammer strut $13
    4. McLearn M2i firing pin $15
    5. EGW oversized firing pin stop $15
    6. Aftec advanced extractor $85
    7. BCG ejector $40
    8. Dawson tool-less guide rod $70
    9. 10 and 12# springs $20
    10. PT thumb rest slide stop $120
    11. BCG bigmouth mag well $65
    12. Dawson front FO .040 $39
    13. Caspian pin set $26

TOTAL: $650-1250 depending on grip choice.

If you feel like a "better" trigger isn't going to help you, why are you going to spend $$$ on a GG drop in kit when they come out?  I would hope that they won't be priced like his P-series kit; but if so, you're looking at $300-ish.

I think one of the things that bugged me a little about the P320 triggers is that I could line up half a dozen new pistols on the gun counter; and they would have 5 or 6 different pulls (weight, break, "double click", etc.).

I agree with the difference across the board. I own three and they all feel slightly different and sound different as well. I want the GG drop in kit because I've used a friends tuned 320 from Bruce and it was awesome!  The reset on GG triggers is pretty awesome. Made a Stryker fired pistol feel and break like a 1911. The weight reduction is a Bonus for the price. I could switch platforms and spend roughly $1,000 or even switch to limited and spend $4,000. So $275-375 doesn't seem too far fetched. Plus it's Bruce Grays creation. If you follow custom gun makers you'll know he's there with Yost, Warner, Novak, and more. Piece of history all be it small

  4. I purchased a sig p320 for uspsa as a new shooter, have an HK VP9 and a glock 19 that I could've used.  I chose the 320 simply based on the feel of it in my hand and the fact that I could "practice" stippling the grip without having to order a new frame for $150 and ship to FFL. I use the standard 7.5# trigger. I went from never shooting a match to B class in production in 4 months. The trigger doesn't bother me. I've shot friends tuned limited guns with sub 2# triggers and I feel I shoot the same, timer doesn't show me a big enough difference to shell out the money and switch platforms. The time I put in everyday dryfire and at the range has made the biggest difference. Hopefully this upcoming season I'll make A class. Time will tell. As for Gray Guns parts, seems like the engineering and time it takes for someone to make a "drop in" trigger kit that joe blow can do in his basement is more complex that I could imagine.  If someone calls for CS, who do they call?  SIG or GG?  Seems GG will have to be ready for that too.  Then the mass production of parts that need to work correctly the first time and every time. From what little interaction I've had with Bruce and some team Sig members, Bruce is a perfectionist.  Which I love. I want my drop in kit to perfect. I don't want a headache and regret for hurrying to get a flawed product. I'll happily shoot my 7# stock trigger and wait for the drop in kit to come out.  As for other small parts seems like springer has that taken care of. Target model definitely won't be announced until after SHOT. If it is announced at all. But I'd say it will be if I was a betting man.

  5. I have the Mossberg 930 JM pro 24" 9+1 12 gauge. What length of spring are you using with the Nordic MXT+9?  With the stock length spring from Nordic it won't reliably feed from the tube, I trimmed 3" off and it works 90%. I tried the spring that came with the original gun and it took 15 in the tube but didn't feed for crap. I don't wanna cut too much off.

The one thing I give them credit for is they announced it and it showed up in gun stores the same day. The nearby ranges where you can rent guns are having them available for rent later this week.

I was hoping for something other than an AR though. A pistol caliber carbine that accepted XDM magazines would have been cool.

That would have been a huge seller.  I run a LGS and the margins on the saint are pretty awful.  We use 5 distributors and the saint didn't show up until early this morning on their websites, and they had very few available.   We sell a lot of XD series and 1911 pistols and all our loyal SA customers where not excited at all about this. I liked SA because they didn't try and push entry level ARs.

They have enough fancy coatings, proprietary and trademark parts to make anyone think the $899 rifle is worth its weight in ...Type III Hard Coat Anodized Aircraft Grade 7075 T6 Nickel Chrome Moly Vanadium Heavy Tungsten Boron-Coated GOLD!

I wonder if they can add those coatings to aftermarket accessories lol!

  9. Quite disappointing, gotta say it turns me away from SA and others when they pull this crap.  "It's gonna revolutionize the world" and then a buster no frills nothing new AR.  Head of marketing this thing should be fired.

  10. So SA released the Saint an AR15 from Springfield. Not much is known but their advertising thourghly confused me. Sweaty people working out for an AR release??  What do you all think of their move?

So if I don't mind picking up some gravel along with brass, the Brass Wizard type roller would work on soft gravel ground?  I have degenerated disc on the back and won't be able to bend down anymore... Crawling may be a problem too.  Thanks everyone for the input.

I use the garden weasel from ACE hardware.  When at a gravel range I don't roll it I "stab" at the cases so the gap in the wheel parallels the case. Seems to work just fine and I get almost no gravel in the cage.
