  1. Spoke with Doug Jones today, seriously thinking about sending him mine. Are you happy with its performance thus far? I love the idea of a metal framed double stack. After adding the sight tracker, slide cuts, fire controls, etc, one is still under the cost of a polymer framed STI Edge without the necessary smithing just to get it to run properly.

I run a very slight roll crimp. Mostly just to make sure there's no rough edges at the top of the brass and to help prevent bullet setback during feeding.

School me on this. Obviously a very slight roll crimp wont have any adverse effects, as you can attest. I have been wondering if a heavy roll crimp could interfere with proper headspacing of the crimped brass in a barrel. Thoughts?

  3. First match ever today. Awesome time and great people. No DQ. Hardware is a Para 16.40 PC shooting Limited minor.

    My mistakes included:

Not verifying a round in the chamber at make ready. "Click." Crap. Now what. Oh yeah!

Stovepipes and FTE's galore due to my weak reloads wanting to shoot minor until I get the hang of things. I never felt recoil once today. Switching to major immediately. Pistol runs 100%, my weak loads cost me beaucoup time.

I'm lacking in the magazine reload dept. Took several tries to completely depress the mag release. Need to become familiar with reaching uber forward with my thumb to get around the double stack frame.

All in all I shot very well, but not up to what I know my potential to be. 2 qualifiers cleanup up straight alphas, although the time wasn't impressive. Speed will come with practice, practice, and well, more ...

I disagree. Most guys that are into trucks around here are making over 500 horse and getting 25+ mpg. And that's ranging from 30 year old to brand new trucks. But then again, they are all powered by the right kind of fuel.

I wont start down this road! It never ends.

Easy pistol to fit, many great options.  What is your budget?  I would say kydex molded holster at a minimum.

We have a guy making them and Ive been thinking about going this route. Especially after seeing some of the prices on the Safariland and Ghost competition holsters.

  6. Para has a lifetime warranty, which is now owned by Remington. As long as your pistol was purchased during this millennium, they will take care of you. Call em up, youll be made whole.

  7. I am very pleased to announce that the ACT mags listed here:

    http://gregcotellc.com/cart/actmag-para-p14-p16-ria-1911-a2-c-160/para-p16-rock-island-armory-1911-a2-40-sw-10mm-16-rd-p16b4016-p-1612.html

in addition to Dawson toolless base pads and Arredondo followers will give you a 20 rd USPSA Limited legal magazine coming in at 139.5mm for $72.69 shipped, with the price for each additional mag dropping since the shipping is flat 6.95.

After installation of a Guncraft mag release, the mags needed no modifications whatsoever.

  8. These will work in the Pro Custom 16.40with Dawson Extensions

Will they fit the 140mm Gauge?

They should, I don't have a gauge, but I have been using 2 magazines like this and they are just the same length as my MBX 141.25mm magazine, possibly .5mm shorter even. I had to file the mag catch slot a bit, but otherwise they work great.

Thanks. Reason I ask is that the included Pro Custom mags with Dawson Bases are 1.5 mm over, coming in around 143 mm.
